    but :o

    Why?

    Money of course :D

An article which was linked to the other link states they're only negotiating.
Netflix and Paramount/Skydance are negotiating a deal on the Alex Garland-directed Annihilation that will give the streaming service international rights to the sci-fi thriller, and an opportunity to release the film on its overseas streaming service 17 days after the film premieres in the the U.S. on February 23. Paramount will do the traditional theatrical release in the U.S., Canada and China.

Putting a major film on Netflix internationally three weekends after its release is as groundbreaking as a similar deal Netflix made with New Line on the next installment of Shaft.

Garland’s follow-up to Ex-Machina stars Natalie Portman, Oscar Isaac, Tessa Thompson, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Gina Rodriguez in a script Garland adapted from the first book in Jeff VanderMeer’s bestselling Southern Reach trilogy. After the husband (Isaac) of a biologist (Portman) turns up missing, she volunteers for a secret mission into alien territory — a cordoned-off forest where a shape-shifting, Aurora Borealis-looking being awaits. Seems that previous attempts to explore the area met with disastrous results.

The deal is similar in spirit to one that Netflix made recently with New Line on its sequel to Shaft, which black-ish creator Kenya Barris scripted and Tim Story is directing with Samuel L. Jackson in the role of John Shaft, with Independence Day: Resurgence and Starz’ Survivor’s Remorse star Jessie T. Usher is set to play Shaft’s son, and Richard Roundtree reprising his character from the original 1971 film. Netflix paid more than half that film’s $30 million budget. When Deadline revealed the Shaft deal, it presented itself as a new model for films that prove challenging on the international front, an opportunity in a fast-changing landscape.

Annihilation will be the next film to test that model. Aside from covering a majority of the film’s budget, the feeling was that a specialized movie like this realizes the bulk of its theatrical gross domestically. A close cousin would be Garland’s Ex Machina, which grossed $25.4 million domestically and $11.4 million internationally, this with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 94%. Annihilation will potentially be seen by a much larger audience overseas as a fresh Netflix film with far less spending on P&A, was the rational behind this. I expect it to become more common as Netflix is hungry to feed its global audience and films like this prove a challenge to market in overseas theaters.

Watched Emelie with Sarah Bolger, a brisk thriller about a couple who hire a new babysitter for their three children. All is not as it first appears and soon it falls on the eldest of the children to protect his siblings from her true intentions. The running time is not much more than 80 minutes and so it belts along at a fair pace but it suffers slightly because of this - it could have done with giving some of the elements a bit more room to breathe to give them a bit more impact. Also, some of it really just doesn't make any sense at all in terms of how the plan is executed. Decent performances from Sarah Bolger and the children do help keep you invested in the film even if it does succumb to cliche in the end.

Has aged very well. One of my favourite DeNiro movies along with king of Comedy and Taxi Driver and one of my favourites in general, always try to watch it at least once or twice a year.

Great cast as well John Aston Dennis Farina Joe Pantoliano cant go wrong.

Absolutely. I've still haven't seen all episodes and I'm a fan, I have to be in the right mood for it. I started the San Junipero episode but realised after a couple of minutes I'm not in the right mind set so stopped..

That is the easiest episode to watch.

Can't wait to watch Midnight Run again. Great film. Also special mention for Danny Elfman's score, worth watching for that alone...

Looks like it was a TV movie, I probably saw it when I was about 12 years old and for some reason it stuck in my head: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109138/

I have no doubt it was terrible.

Jaysus there was a full series of films. Never knew they existed. Absolutely no inclination to ever watch them.

Made my Friday night, great film, thanks! (The relentless smoking though, it’s easy to forget what it was like).

Of the ones on Netflix I loved the 12 day of Christine, very moving and I also thought the near silent episode was really clever/funny.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Stephen King Novella: 1922 is really good.

Thomas Jane was very good in it. He was not that great in The Mist (2007 also Stephen King Novella) and also not that great in The Expanse but in 1922 I thought he was spectacular!

Would recommend if not already mentioned.

I thought he was great in the Mist but he was prone to hamming it up in 1922.

Just watched In Bruges had been meaning to watch it for a couple of years but hadn’t really enjoyable move from Martin McDonagh with strong performances and a great chemistry between Brendan Gleason and Colin Farrell and Ralph Fiennes great as their Gangster boss.
I think that Martin is a lot more talented then his brother John. Highly recommended if you’ve never seen this.

12 Days is fantastic and is all that's good about anthology shows like that.

Really underrated, some of the episodes rival Black Mirror for bleakness.

the 12 days of Christmas with Sheridan Smith wouldn't have felt out of place on Black Mirror. the Devil of Christmas starts of like some cheap 70's programme then gets twisted. A Quiet Night In is a piece of Silent comedic genius, plus the casting of Charlie Chaplin granddaughter must have been a nod too. The Trail of Elizabeth Gadge is a fantastic nod to Witchfinder General. Sardines and Tom and Gerri are two favourites as well. One or two episodes don't hit the mark but it's been overall success.

I might be shot down cause of saying this but I think this is the best thing Reece Sheersmith and Mark Pemberton 's have done, yes even better then A League of Gentlemen imo.

Ditto on both accounts. The silent one had me in stitches, and the 12 Days of Christine stayed with me for a long time afterwards. Amazing show.

Who is watching Dark? Was going to start it tonight, is it as good as the trailer makes it look?

Yikes I thought it was exceptional and the accompanying music is simply epic.

Finished watching all of Dark. Sorry I didn't wait to watch it over the Christmas, doubt I'll see anything as good now for quite a while.

Top notch stuff, and agree re the music.

The Sinner is decent enough but obvious story plot within the first 7 mins of the first episode I thought. Hopefully it has a few twists to the obviousness!
