Casefile No. 1 - a few pods I haven't heard of so might try on the list too.

Casefile was my number 1 podcast for a long time but my new favourite is court junkie. I think you would enjoy it if you like casefile.

So I have listened to all cases up to Case 36 so far. I also skipped ahead to listen to EAR. My favourite 5 are :

Amok - Loved this one. True detective work. Great story to be honest. And totally weird. I really liked the way the case was a cold case and a rookie detective eventually was able to link the murdered and murderer even thought they only interacted for a short time and lot's of people wouldn't have known they ever had contact.

The Catholic Mafia - Amazing how widespread Catholic Church Abuse was. Also liked the Police Man vs everyone scenario.

Snowtown - Very messed up.

The Wanda Beach Murders - Great unsolved mystery.

The North Hollywood Shootout - Like an action movie. The music was also perfect in this one.
EAR was great too but I think a bit long. It became repetitive but I listened to this while driving around California so it was cool.

    I didn't like:

The Russel Street Bombing - Tried listening to it twice but couldn't concentrate and found it boring.

Annelise Michel - Don't care about possession supernatural stuff.
I am looking forward to the cases coming up. Still lots more. Although I am enjoying the cases I look at the titles now a few weeks later and can't remember some of them exactly. Is that normal?

Bit of a newcomer to this fantastic podcast, but am on the Moors Murders at the moment. Jesus christ. One of the most disturbing things I've ever listened to. A horrendous story fantastically well told.

Court Junkie is great, I love Gillians style. I'm finding Casefile a bit hard going at the moment.

Other pods that might interest fans of Casefile are Already Gone, They Walk Among Us and The Minds of Madness which did a fantastic two parter on the Derrick Bird murder spree.

I have to agree with you there regarding Casefile being hard going. The recent episodes haven't been great at all in fairness.
They are off now until 2018 now, so plenty of time to try the new pods suggested, will give them a listen, loving Court Junkie so far.

Yeah, it was nice to get the Jason Corbett trial but some of the court proceedings can be tedious.

Trace is pretty good for anyone looking for a true crime podcast. About an unsolved murder of a woman in a bookshop in Melbourne in 1980. Worth checking out.

I'm not sure if it's just me or what but I just do not have the same love for this podcast anymore :( The new cases are just lacking something, they're not as gripping and my ear does not lend itself as easily to listen. I find myself drifting and then I can't follow the plot. I'm not sure what it is.

I think when you discover casefile first you bindge for a couple of days and mediocre ones pass you bye. But when you are listening & waiting for one a week and it’s mediocre It stands out more.

The Allison Baden clay is on tv right now on crimes that shook Australia.

Just listened to the Walsh Street cop murders episode there, powerful stuff. This really is a fantastically well presented and researched podcast.

Thanks for heads up on Trace and Court Junkie.

Having listened to episodic pods a lot recently is great to get back into a single crime pod such as Trace.

A Killing on the Cape is worth a listen too

Listening to Court Junkie the last few days. I like the way the short episodes are quite accessible. The Erica Parsons case was fascinating! :)

Case 72 was fairly drab and uninteresting in both subject matter and podcast presentation imo. One of the poorest of the whole series.

I discovered Casefile recently and while some episodes are gripping, sometimes the show flags... like why the need for 5 episodes on the EAR? It's just a catalogue of rapes. Two episodes would have been sufficient.

for some reason I found the EAR stuff compelling. something about the way the presenter delivered it. it was sort of hypnotic, for me anyways.

Another new episode today. Not the greatest but I always enjoy the show. There is something about his style that keeps me gripped even on the more run of the mill stories.

    must try ep 73.
ep 72 about willemina or whatever was dreadfully boring I thought and not the best presentation - usually the story construction and presentation is good enough to carry it - not in this case imo as both were poor.

ep 73 not great also. hopefully a good case will be coming up. finding canadian true crime podcast to be better these days imo.

This is the first episode that really didn't hold my attention at all. It was very poor, I didn't enjoy the interview sections at all.

I am still listening. Listened to around 40 cases now. Liked most of them so far. Still have to listen to all of the content from last year.

Have listened to most of the casefile pods and I was very disappointed with the first two this year.. However the most recent is cracker. Back to his best for certain...
Also loving the Canadian one and they walk among us is pretty good.
I'm waiting on a new series of in the dark as that was probably the best I've listened too.
