Ferguson 153, no BBC on Astra 2A

I've scanned Astra 2A for BBC, itv, film4 ava so on on my Ferguson 153 Ariva box. There are plenty of other FTA channels on the 28.2 Astra 2A satellite.

Have they moved? Am I following an out dated guide? I'm can't find how to add Astra 2E satellite to the list so I can check it for the same channels

    Any help is appreciated.

None of the above channels have moved. It sound more like a failure either of the box or dish. Try your box at a friends home with a known working dish or borrow a known working box. This should tell if it's the box or dish.

If your box is looking at Astra 2A I would be thinking the firmware may need updating
astra 2A 2B 2D have been replaced by 2E 2F 2G (but maybe some of the channel Frequencies are same ? )
Have a look for your box on the Ferguson Site
I don't have a Ferguson Ariva i have an amiko + a Vu+Duo2 but i did think astra 2A Was moved on some years ago
    Check out

What is you signal strength like
When you change channel on the bottom of the screen it should have a kind of signal meter

I think a Blind Scan of 2A should get all the signals from 2E, F and G.

Had you been receiving them previously?

If yes, I'd be checking the LNB / alignment / lnb skew.

If it's a new install, check the alignment and more likely lnb skew.

Firmware won't have anything to do with it, most likely. The signal meter is accessed by pressing the white button at the bottom of the remote once. Tell us what you're getting there on a couple of channels.

Hey guys, thanks for the advice so far. I'm using the sky dish I previously had. Plenty of channels scan in on Astra 2a which is at 28.2 E. But unlike the guides on youtube dated 2015, I don't see BBC or it's scan in.

Are you referring to the lnb grew in my antenna setup? It currently reads as, Universal (9750-1060). Transponder 1 is 10714 h 22000 but the signal is 45% and the quality only 10%. Transponder 180 is 89% signal and 73% quality.

Should I adjust the dish on tree roof?

Is there a satellite option for Eurobird or Eutelsat at 28.5E? If so, scan it and see what happens.

Have you just switched from Sky? Do you know what type of LNB you have?
If you had Sky Q you will probably need a new LNB

There is a eutlesat on16 and eurobird on 28.5 None of them have BBC on their scan.

If I set "FTA only" to *no* then I can find scrambled BBC which is not much help.

There was a sky plus box here before. The dish has never moved.

    Not sure if that helps

Can you give the names of a few of the channels you are able to watch.

I think they are all on Horizontal transponders. I know you are not getting a signal on 10714 H but it may be that you can only get some H signals and no Vertical. It is a known problem due to LNB fault.

Try 11023 H 23000 which is the strongest H BBC transponder with BBC 1 Northern Ireland HD.

Even stronger is 10846 V 30000 BBC 1 Scotland HD.

Channel 5 HD 10964 H 22000 is the very strongest signal anywhere, try that one as well.

You can confirm the full parameters for those transponders on the King of Sat link.

I swapped the two cables coming from the dish, sure why not, and got a lot more channels on Astra 2a. Bloomberg, Dave, drama, really, sky news. No BBC still.

Just to confirm you are choosing "Blind Scan" as shown in the video?

Yep it's single satellite blind scan. Network search is set to no.

As suggested earlier if possible get another box and do a scan on it. Or bring your 153 to another dish.

If you can't get a signal on Channel 5 / 5 USA / 5 Star etc on 10964 H but you are getting lots of others, I do not understand what could be wrong.

When you have the TP list up on screen. You can add a TP.

Just change it slightly so it thinks its something not in the TP list.

If the S/R is 22000, change it to 19999 and it will allow you add it and scan that TP.

If that doesnt work, theres a chance that the software is corrupt so just flash the box by downloading the firmware for the 153 here

Unzip that to a USB stick. Stick it in the box and go to menu and load the firmware using the allcode and bootloader option.

    Then rescan
