Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Need to be just as careful applying for that role too then!

I done some maths there and taking the lowest end of the salary advertisd its works out about £8:16 hr which isnt really that great for the job you would be doing

Most people want to join the police because they want to help people these jobs help people

Yeah of course they help people but the police across the world are seen as law enforcement

    Weekdays £8.66 p/hr
Saturdays is time and half. £12.99 p/hr
    Sunday double time £17.32 p/hr

That means conditioned week hours are 44 per week.

    Works out £8.66 per hour

Don't know about rest of you but if in get into police I'll already be taking a considerable pay cut. But it's the job I want. So the pay for police staff isnt really a factor as its essentially "training" in my eyes. The CDO job has the same goals as police constable e.g. the accountability, working with others etc etc. So applying for it is a good back up as you will be taught everything for that job and in the chance you failed psni you will have a better understanding of the core needs of the psni on your next attempt.

    You only do custody...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,620 ✭✭✭Banterbus28

Your job is simply to ensure the safety of detained persons

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 236 ✭✭sparkylarky

It would still be good experience to have even if you dont get the full experience a constable would get

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 236 ✭✭sparkylarky

    Especially dealing with awkward people

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,620 ✭✭✭Banterbus28

Oh aye. Not doubting It but I would only consider dispatcher. Pay hit is too high and I have more than myself to support.

You'd get a lot of detained persons who will injure themselves to get to hospital so they delay being I terviewed. My mate has had a full shift on constant obs

    Lol it happens!

Thanks it would be interesting to know, does your mate carry a baton or cs while on the job?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,620 ✭✭✭Banterbus28

Just cuffs and leg restraints. Like I said their job is making sure they don't hurt themselves or others. Shields have been mention for bleeders and splitters with Hepatitus and stuff.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,620 ✭✭✭Banterbus28

Prison service have their own escorting officers

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,620 ✭✭✭Banterbus28

To avoid clogging this thread. Shall we move police staff to it's own thread?

Aww right well I suppose there would be police about with batons and cs if they were needed!

Yea probably best making a new thread

Probably scanning and rolling out the emails in order that the IST was completed, if you don’t get it in a day or two then fire them an email and say your buddy got an email confirming and you didn’t and you want to make sure your IST was successfully logged

This thread seems to have died recently, the website says that the IST is likely to reopen today sometime for those to complete theirs that had problems first time around. Any thoughts as to if this extra time will push back the results date of 18th/19th December?

Wouldn't be surprised if the results are delayed until after Xmas due to the time of year and the last week of technical issues - but lets hope not.
If the results are delayed for a week or so, I wonder if that will impact on the AC dates?

If the results are pushed back then the whole process gets pushed back which means later AC, later PCA, later medical and later GV start!

It’s like dominos, once one falls then the next one falls and the next one and the next one

Hopefully they work double time and still meet the 18th deadline

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,620 ✭✭✭Banterbus28

Doubt they will miss the deadline or if they do it won't be by much as they will already be in the S-H-I-T for the IST cock up

  • Registered Users Posts: 271 ✭✭Lockie101

They will be in trouble and probably fined for failing to provide the service as promised to the PSNI.

I hope they do meet it but I can see it being pushed back due to the extended IST dates

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,620 ✭✭✭Banterbus28

They were already doing a late IST for those who need reasonable adjustment so again I doubt the knock on affect will be drastic

  • Registered Users Posts: 271 ✭✭Lockie101

I thought the reasonable adjustment tests ran parallel to the other IST tests?

No I know a few people still waiting for their link for adjusted ist.
Hopefully the results still come out around 19th. But if not, nothing we can do. Just more time to practice for the AC. Everyone just needs to relax. Just becausd they say a date doesnt mean 9am on that date etc. Pretty sure last campaign I got results through just before 8pm on the day the results were due

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 46 bangedtorights

Hope everyone still waiting, gets their link soon. You will all smash it.

The nerves will be jangling when people start posting up here that the results are in. I might need to get someone else to open my email
