Can anyone give a rough cost of removing old unit and fitting a new one?
Not including the cost of buying the shower as I know different types vary in price.

You'll be cheaper getting someone to supply and fit rather than just fit. If you just want them to fit you'll be looking at around 100/120 if it is like for like. You could be up to 200 if you buy a different type of shower. A lot of people have tank fed shower. They go to Argos, B&Q and buy a cheap mains fed shower and this won't work on a tank fed system so the plumber has to repipe it in the attic.
