Silver Chronograph Watch Advice

Hey guys im on the lookout for a silver chronograph watch however i have purchased one or two before only to return it, i bought a sekonda watch for €60/70 and an asos for €35, unfortunately both i had negative experiences as the straps felt like plastic and uncomfortable on my wrist.

I have returned them both and have been unsatisfied! My budget is less than €100 which is probably the cause of it, and I shouldn't expect much?
To be honest the dial looked wonderful, its just the chronograph strap feels flimsy, cheap and uncomfortable.

Would i be better off buying a silver chronograph watch like Michael korrs/hugo boss/armani exchange, its expensive and steep for me

You'll get better advice here TB. Not a lot to go on with a budget of 100 squids, but no doubt the locals will be up for the challenge.

bought from there before and quality was good but never bought a chrono mind so couldn't be completely sure - China, basically, is a great place to try cool looking cheap watches so long as you're willing to accept an element of risk that it will arrive okay.

It's possible to find Seikos, Casios and Citizen chronographs too mind - plenty here if you scroll on down...

Whats the craic with that CreationWatches website?

Some huge savings there, especially on Invicta brand. Are they replica or fake or what?

I assume they are coming from the Far East?

You can get pretty decent leather straps online for less than 20 quid - certainly better than what will come on a watch in that range. If you liked everything but the strap, then maybe look into that? Here's one picked at random, and here's the tool you need (leather straps are really easy to replace).

Genuine, but you run the risk of getting done for customs. Invicta are like DFS or Harvey Norman. Constantly "on sale".

Are the RRP realistic on it? Or do they inflate them before reducing prices?

Barring customs, are they safe enough to order from? Anyone on here done it?

Loads here have ordered from them. Just ordered another one myself! Not as familiar with prices on other brands but with Seikos even with customs they're half the price you'd pay here.

If ordering a watch and trying to lessen the odds of a customs hit, do you think I should get it sent to Ireland or Northern Ireland?

Which customs would you think would be more likely to bill you?

It will probably end up with FedEX in either. They always apply customs. I selected regular post last time and it still got shipped by courier. Don't mind paying the customs but Fed Exs hefty admin charge. An Posts charge wasn't to high but it's a few years ago must check what they are now

I have a watch on the way from them . Bought it last Thursday evening for 170 euro , Its been posted through DHL and I got an email yesterday from DHL to say its been stopped by customs as creationwatches valued the package content as 64 euro .I had to send proof of payment and then today make a customs payment for 62 euro .

Should have the watch tomorrow .

Argos currently have a Seiko Quartz chrono for €101 at the moment if that’s any use to you. Probably the best brand available at that price range. Can’t comment on the particular watch though.

Right on budget but it has folded bracelet links which would put me of, they just feel light and rattly. Hard to get a decent bracelet at that price point

OP can you stick up links to the watches you returned so we know what style you like. Do you want bracelet or leather strap

Even if you had to pay full customs vat it would be about €135 landed definite step in quality over the argos one has solid links.

Got this the other day, i liked the dial and the strap style, i am definitely into the chronograph styled watches and looking to keep one in my wardrobe to add a bit of spice along with a summer outfit. It's just the strap is really disappointing, it feels like flimsy, cheap and uncomfortable, is it just me or is this the case with all chronograph watches? Thanks for the suggestion lads but i personally think changing to a different strap would make it less inferior :rolleyes:

By the way i purchased long ago a chronograph watch on asos only to return it and it was also a sekonda watch..

Yes , irish jewellers price are in the region of 4 - 450 euro but Seiko are extremely overpriced here . Uk online price with postage would be about 260 pound so still getting good value.

The watch arrived today , lovely watch with warranty and the correct box .

For your budget, why are you fussed about the strap?
You can get a good quality leather strap up to 22mm for €12.

Why not concentrate on getting a watch with a decent movement and then put a good strap or bracelet on it?

There's a classic Sekonda Speedy homage on Argos at the moment, well within your budget.

I have a Sekonda from 1999 with a Seiko V657 movement that is still going strong.

Also, Argos will probably let you have a look and see how it feels on the hand before you buy.
