I have a Sky SD Digibox from which I removed the viewing card years ago and on which I receive UK channels FTA.

Does anyone in this forum have ideas about a (non-Sky+) hard-drive recorder that can be used to record from the Digibox?

There used to be hard drive recorders that you could get that would take a start input. I expect that even if you located one now it would be more expensive than getting a new satellite box.

I'd recommend getting either a FreeSat box or an enigma 2 box. Either of these can come with a disk for recording. Also the channels are (or can be) arranged into a sensible order with all of the pay channels removed. If you have a second cable from the dish to the receiver it will allow you to record one channel while watching another.

omg a sd box as above a good e2 twin tuner box will give hd bbc1 and others if your tv has a hdmi input.
