Just seen these on Simon Thomas twitter feed. Is Launchbury (?) Creating a ruck therefore an offside line is formed.

The ref said he was happy Robshaw was onside which would imply a ruck was formed. Like how can they get these things so wrong with all the technology they have available. Imagine if that was a RWC Semi final.

Robshaw was back onside by the time he made the tackle.

The TMO got more than one decision wrong but the ref called this and he was spot on imo.

If that was the last ruck before the tackle, there is no way that he could have been back onside is there?

He ran back to an onside position before making the tackle

He ran back to an onside position before making the tackle

He made the tackle in the in goal area.... He couldn't possibly have been offside

Nope, initiated the tackle before getting in goal.

    https://youtu.be/ZyvKo4SM1wk?t=2325

Ruck forms @ 38:54 in the video
@38:56 Robshaw is 2/3m offside but indeed retreating
@38:58 he initiates the tackle, ultimately getting driven into the in-goal area where he does brilliantly to hold up the ball carrier initially.

Clear enough from the video no?

edit - or is him making the tackle behind the back foot of the ruck enough?

I would have thought so. Ruck is around a meter from the try line. He makes the tackle around half a meter from the try line. He retreated and ran infield a bit. I think its fine.

Draw an imaginary line off the hindmost foot at the last ruck. Robshaw tackles behind that line so how is he offside?

That was a serious performance from Scotland on Saturday. They can potentially beat anyone in the 6N playing like that. Just that small bit of quality and ruthlessness nudged NZ ahead in the end.

Michael Cheika gives the impression of being a real whinger and from what we can judge (albeit from a distance) not someone you would particularly want to invite as a dinner guest. But maybe my impression of him is completely wrong. Anyone any idea what he was like when coaching Leinster? BTW this is not an evaluation of him as a coach as I think he is the best Australia have had since Bob Dwyer. Just his manner and personality.

Extremely hard-headed and abrasive when coaching Leinster supposedly, but was exactly what they needed at they time it turned out!

But there was quite a lot of discontent with Cheika at Leinster before he ended up winning the Heineken Cup. Talk about getting rid of him the very same year he won the trophy, especially after we lost against Castres in the groups. Turned around very fast as soon as we started winning, after that day in London in particular. That year and Cheika/Felipe/Rocky will never be forgotten now.

I get the impression he's been told to cut that out.

He made a show of himself insisting Folau didn't pull Dilyn Leyds by the hair a few weeks ago but over the weekend he flatly refused to drawn on the contentious decisions. Big change given he probably had cause to be upset with some of the decisions. He talked about cultivating a no excuses culture from here too.

He was very uncharacteristically composed throughout the match aswell. I thought someone had slipped him a Xanax...

If he's been told to cut it out then picking a fight with a fan/fans at half time was probably not his best start!

Ah its a work in progress!

I see World Rugby weren't impressed by his efforts to restrain himself either.

As far as I'm concerned he's a bit of a knob. His efforts with Leinster get him an easy ride on this forum, but if he didn't have that history behind him, he'd be fairly slated. It's always someone else's fault with Cheika, never so much a problem with his team or his coaching. The archetypal Aussie yob.

No comparison whatsoever with the way Joe Schmidt handles himself for example.

Liam Williams has been ruled out of Wales' game against New Zealand. With Jonathan Davies also out long term Wales now have a very blunt back line.

Cuthbert is also missing but he's rubbish so it's no real loss for Wales. He's a body though and Wales seem to be running short of those. Could see a call up for Jamie Roberts at this rate.

In this day & age, it's faaaarkin ridiculous that NZ have lost 3 players to mumps over the course of the tour.

Maybe it will take a player getting German measles, polio...or tetanus from a dirty wound...for the public to wake up.

Dunno what Ireland is like, but NZ is full of loony left-wing Green-voting parents who "distrust" vaccinations.

    Being anti-vaccinations isn't a 'left-wing' thing - it's a 'complete fcuking eejit' thing, there is a difference.

There has been an outbreak of measles the last few months, we have it here but not too bad yet.

Honestly, the only way to deal with anti-vaxx folks is unbridled ridicule and then ban their kids from school.

Would be over and done with in a year or two.

Mumps is a relatively minor illness in kids...but in adult men it can be pretty savage...and leave you with redundant nuts.

No doubt there are some right-wing intellectuals who are also stridently anti-vaccination...

Roberts is in line to start according to a few welsh lads on twitter.

I'm sure Alex Jones has a diatribe or two against vaccination up on YouTube. I know he only ticks one of those boxes you mentioned. :D

I'll say it again, watch 1 minute of Alex Jones and then consider that he has the ear of the current President of the United States.

It's a really, really sad state of affairs.

They're going to get hammered. I'll be supporting them anyway, the sport is much more interesting when NZ aren't just steamrolling everyone.
