Going to use a broker soon to help us apply for mortgage approval with the banks. However a friend of mine says that the broker wont be able to apply to Bank of Ireland and that we'll have to apply to BOI directly ourselves. Is this true? Its not a big deal as we'll just photocopy all our documents.....if BOI allow photocopied documents?

Hi toby2111, thanks for getting in touch.

You won’t be able to do this with a broker but you can apply for a mortgage directly with us, you can get more information and request a call-back from a mortgage specialist here

Our mortgage specialists will be happy to discuss the documents that are required and if you need anything else please let me know.

    Thanks, Nicola

Hi Nicola,. Thanks for the reply. Do BOI accept photocopies of statements etc for mortgage application? Or do we need originals?

Morning toby2111, you would be required to provide originals before the mortgage is drawn down.

Our mortgage specialists will be able to advise you on what documents are needed for your initial application.

    Thanks, Nicola

Ok, but for initial mortgage approval in principle, are photocopies OK?

Hi toby2111, it will depend on the application so it'd be best to have a chat with one of our mortgage specialists who'll be happy to confirm what's needed.

    Thanks, Nicola
