Hook has no connection to Porter at all except they were both on the radio. They were even on different stations. You might as well compare Porter with Conor McGregor. The constant whataboutery by Hook defenders is pretty sad.

And if these allegations are true, Porter is of course just as much a predator as Kevin Spacey and Weinstein.
Both under the same media group though

Anyone who has any sympathy for him after that apology needs their head examined.

Shoving your hands down someone's pants and grabbing their dick was just in keeping with his "flamboyant and outrageous public persona", in what he had regarded as "light hearted and good natured circumstances". Fúck off you complete twat.

The attitude doesn't surprise me at all. As a straight guy who spent plenty of nights out in Dublin with gay friends many moons ago, there's a certain element of the gay scene who act like absolute twats and seem to lean on their "outrageousness" to "pull it off" and excuse their behaviour.

It would happen nearly every night, but then again, I am fabulous!

    Two prominent media personalities.

One said something that some people didn't like. Cue mass hysteria in the media

The other has likely committed criminal offences of a sexual nature. Suddenly the moral outrage brigade have lost their voices.

That is what we are talking about.

I noticed my more left leaning friends on Twitter and Facebook are surprisingly rather quite on this topic. Funny thing, they were really outraged with Hook in their many, many posts on that subject!

Why should it matter what your political preference is?

So they think words are worse than (alleged) actions

The whole left and right thing is complete garbage. it's getting worse than the US

I'm seeing as much outrage on twitter from the left in relation to Porter as I did for Hook. Has been trending on and off for the last 3 days.

    The classic non apology apology.

Ah the well-worn retort of the man who has no argument... "If I throw in patronising words, it means I'm winning"

The poster you deliberately misquoted already suggested an appropriate way - however, you seem to think an appropriate way to deal with what you feel is a sexual assault is to wait a couple of years, continue to socialise with your assailant - then post about it on twitter...

I don't believe the "victims" felt they were sexually assaulted at the time. I'm not convinced they feel that way even now. I can imagine they were embarrassed and had a feeling of "what the f*ck?"
But to effectively align themselves with the many victims of serious sexual assault - people who have actually had their lives ruined - does not sit well.

Self righteous indignation bestride the high horse of false virtue ; the go-to place for the vicariously offended and outraged. complete with a straw man.

I've asked you already, but will try once more: what is the appropriate response for a (vulnerable) man to take on being sexually assaulted by a celebrity? You, the arbiter of how someone should feel on being assaulted, and where on the spectrum of seriousness these lie. (And while you're at it, you might refresh me on where I said what they did was appropriate - that's the straw man bit).

Was it really just "awful" behavior?

The hysterical over-reaction to his awful behaviour is going to ruin his life.

You even call them "victims" (twice) are they not even victims in your view?

Were they not even sexually assaulted?
(I'm a magnanimous chap, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, you're using inverted commas, as at the time of writing it was all allegations. You might reflect on your punctuation in light of his mealy mouthed, insincere apology/admissions.

For whatever reason you've sought to diminish the assaults or suggest the victims should have handled it differently. (i'd certainly have, but I'm not the victim).

It seems to me here on this island if you are white you are fooked unless you are gay or a traveller as they seem to get treated differently and of course if you are black or foreign the race card is played.

Don't go around grabbing men or women and one should get on well.

    The SJW-nazis claim another.

At least it's one of their own this time.

Gotta love people falling over themselves to claim some sort of leftie liberal media conspiracy without actually understanding the media cycle.

Started breaking proper Friday evening, between then and now the usual talking heads have been off air and there's been no daily columns or opinion pieces published.

That's the lamest most pathetic excuse for an excuse I've read in a long time.
If he truly thinks that people loves others to just shove their hand down their pants or whatever without as much as a by your leave then he needs his head examined.
And 'decades in the industry is really stretching things.

So a gay traveller has hit the jackpot.

He obviously doesn't have anyone doing PR for him, can't see anybody signing off on publishing that excuse. Whatever I thought of him before, I think he's 10 times the bigger twat after trying to play the flamboyant gay card.

This has been a great month for homophobes.

Fellas why did you sexually abuse those men.

Kevin Spacey 'I was drunk and by the way I'm gay'.

Al Porter 'It's because I'm flamboyant'.

Please shut up and feck off.

Also, there are quite a few gay men working in the Irish entertainment / showbiz industry these days and we don't seem to be hearing anything about them, so it definitely sounds he was way out of order with his behaviour.

I think I am going to identify as a "flamboyant and outrageous" persona, henceforth ! It may just get me out of a few holes (excuse the pun....)

A non white, non Irish, disabled transgender female traveller :D

Call me old-fashioned... or I suppose at this stage it would be a monstrous, homophobic, sexist, pig, chauvanistic, literally hitler, narrow-minded, sex assault-sympathizing, racist.... but shouldn't a person who has a complaint make one at or around the time of the incident and make it at the place of work and/or at a police station? If you don't make a complaint close to the time, then you shouldn't be able to come out years later and say you were bothered by it. Then when one says it before the person has a chance to correct their behaviour it's like this horde of people who have gripes with them all come out saying stuff, it strikes me as very odd.

Coming from someone who doesn't like Al Porter at all - it's not that I have any reason to dislike him, just he's not to my taste.

    Honestly?

Is this really your mindset when it comes to sexual assault crimes ???????????

Just hearing reports that an rte employee has been arrested in Leeds for soliciting underage sex.
The Al Porter scandal is fairly small fry compared to this if true. Expect inm to go to town on the story.
