Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This is some bull**** version of the great game of hurling. Why try to sell the yanks a version of the game which in no way reflects the actual game and isn't a patch on the original either.

I don’t mind it as an alternate tbh. Fast paced and high scoring.

It's akin to Ferrari starting to offer their product in the states but decide not to offer Ferraris at all but instead a souped up Peugeot 206 badged as Ferrari.

It's like one of those stupid training games where you try to simulate operating in limited space.

Reminds me of when we played on small astro pitch in early season training. Led to quite a few injuries and schmozles!

Are they playing with a tennis ball? They seem to be making a lot of basic mistakes

President of Red Sox described it as "violent.":-) Although he likes it. Bigger crowd than Boston College last night.

Sounds harder. Nearly sounds like a hockey or cricket ball when they hit it. Struggling to catch it whatever it is.

A normal sliothar by looks of it when they do odd close up of them lying in the net. Second game much better than the first.

    Hon the Banner!!!

    That was great craic

That was way better. Galway and Dublin concentrated too much on physical aspect, which Galway won, whereas Clare and Tipp was actually good exhibition of skills. Final might be interesting.

At 8. Kind of sad that the Boston Mayor whose parents are from Connemara has no irish. Then again, our own Minister doesn't either, other than a few clichés she remembered.

Thought tipp would come out on top if it came down to that. Often touted as the most skilful team in the country. I suppose Clare love that short stuff though :)

Its the perfect game for exporting to America - small sided, small pitch and using soccer goalposts. 30,000 people in the audience, very exciting for those watching with it just being goals only - I really like the rule about not being allowed kick the ball

30k cos it's a one off gimmick. No one would go watch this on a weekly basis.

It's not about growing the game as a commercial thing - but to get more players playing it as a sport

Extended version of the national anthem - nice!

You can tell the Amercians in the audience!

Then play the game as it should be played. It's like soccer exporting subbuteo to promote their game.

Norah Keady sang part of the American anthem in Irish to tune of Amhrán na bhFiann. Then continued with our one!

Oh yeah, no problem we'll export it as it is so easy to

I could list a lot more reasons than the ones below - but I actually want to watch the game. Their pitches are not the length of GAA pitches, they dont have the numbers to make it 15 a side and smaller teams means than clubs can field easier - and make it a lot more enjoyable as all players get more touches of the game. It's not like at home where there are pitches readily available and anybody involved in the GAA abroad will atest to same

I think this is a great idea. Quick and easy to play.

When I was younger my whole extended family played this type of game in the park. It was more a 6 a side and the only difference was that you had to drop the ball on the ground before you had a shot at goal so you get good at at drop shots! My mother was thrown in goal even! We played with tennis balls. It was very good for sharpness

The only reason we did this as we didn't have 30 players and the little park was small. This is why this is played in america too as their fields are not big enough

No point in playing this with anything more than a hurl three sizes too small for you. More important to be able to use the hurl to almost handpass it than strike it.

    It was the full version

Clare leading well - will be interesting to see how Galway respond in the second half.

Knowing something about American protocol, it wouldn't be allowed - Bush went mental when a Spanish version of the Star Spangled Banner was played

Are they trying to sell it to the yanks? I would have thought it was just an exhibition game adapted to the dimensions of the pitch and that most of the crowd are ex-pats.

The point is to try to export the game and gain some exposure. No point playing an exhibition game of a different sport. It's closer to lacrosse than hurling.
