Smart TV

    I was thinking of getting a Smart TV for my bedroom. There is no TV point and no way of connecting it to aerial. I have WiFi. Will I still be able to watch the saorview channels without aerial connection?

    Is the tv on the second floor.If so can use an open up paperclip as an aerial in the middle section or buy a small aerial.

    No. You must have an aerial for Saorview.

    Or you would need a TV gateway device connected to an aerial and your router elsewhere in the house. Then the TV can receive the Saorview channels by wifi (if it has an iptv app).

    can you explain that in a bit more detail sounds like a great idea, could i do same for sat channels, any links and cost?

    for the op a smart tv with browser should give you access tv channels and you should be able to use rte player, tv3 player and tg4 player, their is a website that broadsats tv channels but i cant recall it.

    get a good smart tv, not samsung, lg is good and the world is you oyster

    I use a box called Vboxcomm which has terrestrial and satellite tuners. There are other brands and there are many diy options using old PC's or even low powered devices such as Raspberry Pi's with USB tuners.

    TV's browsers tend to be very limited and not updated over the long term. It may work to some degree (for a while) but won't make for a good user experience.

    A normal TV connected to an old PC/Laptop would be a much better option if the OP wants to work through a browser.
