How has life turned out for the "popular" people from school?

How has life turned out for the "popular" people from school?

I wasn't the most sociable person in school and didn't really have a proper group of friends who I enjoyed spending time with until 5th/6th year. But I'm doing decent now IMO in life. I'm in my final year of college, and I recently started my own business on the side.

The popular people in my school don't seem to be up to much. Most didn't go to college or do a trade. They just work in retail for the local Dunnes. I'm not kidding, about 30 people I went to school with are currently working in Dunnes. Nothing wrong with that per say, but IMO should you not spend your 20's building a foundation for a future career, as opposed to a job.

The people who weren't seen as popular, appear to be flying now after getting into good college courses.

I didn't go to school in the US so never really noticed a popular/nerd or whatever type divide like in the filimts. What's wrong with working in Dunnes anyway? What's your idea of success?

You’re asking people on boards? I doubt they are still in contact with them!

Not even a thinly veiled 'I'm a great fella altogether and I can laugh now at those pricks who used to bully me' thread.

This is a very self indulgent thread. Thread screams - let me look down at those monsters that bullied me for 6 years. Get over yourself OP.

Nothing really if that's your thing.

But to me, it shows someone who is unambitious and has no desire to better their lives. Success for me is someone who tries to obtain new skills, in order to lead a fulfilling career, as opposed to a run of the mill job.

I was never bullied in school.

The ones I still know or have knowledge of are doing really well. They have good qualifications and jobs. Most of them have a house and family and seem content. They're still friends with each other too.

As a teacher I see a similar trend in past pupils I know of. They seem to be getting on well.

Some people who had it tough have gone onto better things, others haven't.

Some who were popular have been able to use what made them popular and have gone on to better things, others haven't.

As is life in its randomness.

PS who gives a fcuk if someone works in Dunnes. Maybe they're happy.

I didn't attend Sweet Valley High so popularity wasn't a huge deal.

OP not getting the approval he thought he would in this thread...maybe he’s not popular on boards.

I work in a pretty dead end job. It pays ok though but I have pretty much zero ambition or aspirations, career wise. It means nothing to me.
Do you want to judge me now?

I have no idea. The ones I wasn't friendly with don't figure in my life now so I just live my life without wondering about or looking up the lives of other people.

No idea. I was neither popular nor cannon fodder. I floated about in between playing one side off each other until I got the f**k out of there and never cared to look back. GABOS. That's the rule of the game when they got you locked up in there

Or maybe the people on Boards are overly hostile, which tends to be the case.

I read one of your posts before, I think you were saying you'll be on 100k or something when you finish your college course, as a programmer, lol. Programming seems like something the nerdy kids with social difficulties at school end up doing, at least you're sticking to your true colours! I can't think of anything worse than coding in some software company. For me success is peace of mind and general happiness, it has nothing to do with your career choices.

The popular people I went to school with are still very popular where ever they ended up and most of them got on well.
People who were bullies are still the same in my experience and would be
    successful.
Those who didn't say much are still the same.
One of the main differences between school and the work place/college is people might find a click more suited to them.
The odd person changes in my opinion. One of the biggest myths I was told/heard was that those who are bullies/don't study in school don't get on well in my in my experience they do.

I know most people I went to school with did go on to college. Beyond that, I don't have a clue what most of them are up to now. I'm clearly older than the OP and don't have as much time on my hands!

Despite having a masters degree, I spent my twenties working in retail. It's good to know that people I went to school with were crowing over my failure and supposed lack of ambition.

No idea what you're on about. I don't work in programming. It wasn't me.

once you are content and happy in your own life and world. who cares what other people think... You must be a very insecure person if your thinking about how the "popular people from your school is doing"
