Positive from O'Neill there with O'Dowda starting.

    Is Glenn Whelan dead?

Nah he's just nearly 34 and playing in the Championship.

I'll be happy if we see him at some stage as it'll probably mean we are protecting a result.

Delighted with O'Dowda getting a start, said it during the week wouldn't surprise me if MON gave him a start with his form in his last three league games.

I'd give my left nut to have Kerr in charge again.

Theres no point in talking about Wes starting ...............Its obvious he is not in O Neills plans .

    We need to win
    We need a threat
We need an alternative to hoofball

This stat I saw on the BBC surprised me:
This is the first time that the Republic of Ireland have failed to score in an away international since November 2014. They had found the net in each of their last nine on the road.

    Why ?
(Sorry if I am missing something obvious here)

Could come back to bite us in the arse on Tuesday not getting an away goal tonight.

Denmark should be ashamed of their approach when they have a player like Eriksen at their disposal.

Would have ripped us apart if they played any football.

Just get Paddy Power on to sponsor Bentner to score an own goal in the next game and show off his Paddy Power boxers.

Paddy can afford a few pounds to do that.

Our players are top level pros.

Put 8 of them in front of you and you need a bit more than Eriksen.

Imagine if Georgia had an Eriksen.

Not much chat about it, but Randalph was absolutely excellent again.
    Well done that man.

No world class saves tonight, but dealt with everything very well. And a clear man of the match.

You're really doing a disservice to how well we can frustrate the life out of an opponent. We've kept clean sheets against far better sides than them in recent years. We got tactics spot on for our extremely limited talent pool.

I haven't taken anything away from our defensive performance. I'm talking about Denmark and their tactics - hitting long balls for 90 mins when they have a world class assist machine in the middle of the park. How many long balls does it take the Danish management to realise it's not working?

If we don't score first on Tuesday then I would really worry.

    I know that seems obvious.

I just don't see how this team, in the way it's set up, could come back from going a goal down in a situation where away goals are important.

We've only conceded 4 in our last 10 competitive fixtures so there's a pretty decent likelihood we don't end up in that situation.

I've every faith on management based on multiple positive results against good sides that we'll scrape through in utterly unconvincing style.

If we win this tie that's another higher ranking team we've got the better of under MON, there's nothing unconvincing about it.

Who will blink first on Tuesday? Martin O'Neill or Age Hareide?

My money is on MON and Ireland to prevail.

Correct me if I am wrong but I thought he who blinks first in that situation was on a downer;)

We better not give them two away goals or we will have to bring on Dumbpy’s Irish / Barcelona / Real Madrid players .

Its the great football manager ( Dumby) and all his great Irish /Barcelona / Real Madrid players that I am taking the pee out of there really .

O ‘ Neill plays Anti - Football a lot of the time and its just as well that football is decided on results and not style or artistic impression because

Daryl Murphy is what he is . One of the reasons O ‘ Neill has him in the team is for set pieces ; Offensive and defensive . Sadly he is about as mobile as a dump truck ( nearly ) We could do with Shane Long in red hot form for the way we are trying to play but sadly he is going through a bad spell ( medium to long bad spell )

For us to play a whole lot differently (successfully anyway ) with that squad we would need an Ericksen / Alaba / a quality above what we currently have .

Lets say we were playing half decent football and were out of contention in groups how much interest would there be . The purists would probably be happier and living in hope but a lot of supporters would lose interest and skedaddle . The Dumbys would be having a field day and get the manager sacked .

We are definitely one really quality midfielder (probably 2 ) and also 1 or two quality forwards short of being a good squad . With Stephen Ward no spring chicken we could do with a good left back as well .

I would not advise any neutral to watch Ireland .

Lets see how we get on the next day . If we can nullify Ericksen are Denmark all that ? If they score we are going to need 2 so we certainly are going to have the option of going attacking the next day so perhaps we will see if this team can play successful attacking football .
