Aer Lingus destroyed my bag - assessment

I flew from London to Dublin in September with Aer Lingus. My checked bag didn't arrive on the carousel and I reported this. It was delivered to my house the next day but was so badly damaged as to be unusable ever again. I logged a complaint with them and was told it would take 'up to 30 working days' to resolve.

31 working days later, and unsurprisingly no response from Aer Lingus. I contacted them via Facebook and Twitter and was told that it would be escalated and they would be in touch 'soon'. I will give them an additional week for them to make contact with me again before I take it further.

To prepare for that, is there anywhere in Dublin or surrounding areas which would assess and roughly value my bag? It's a leather holdall, not a suitcase, if that's relevant.

Same thing happened to me last year when flying Aer Lingus from Amsterdam to Cork, I missed my connecting flight at Amsterdam to Cork (flew in from Hong Kong) and got rerouted via London Heathrow and anyway when I got to Cork my bag was lost. It was delivered three days later but the suticase itself was destroyed and unsuable for any future flights.

I complained and about three weeks later got an email asking me for a receipt so I went and bought a new case costing around €75 which was similar to my old one and Aer Lingus refunded me the money by Cheque a while later.

Here was where I started from

If your living in Dublin, bring the bag up to Aer Lingus Head office building and demand to see someone in the public relations section/ customer service or in T2

For a start, 30 workong days is ridiculous to resolve this. Why should it take six weeks to accept or deny responsibility? Play some hardball here.
