I picked up a 1995 style Dublin jersey from the O'Neills store last year- with the Arnotts logo and the old crest for my cousin. It had the old O'Neills logo but the jersey material was new. Even as a Kerry man I had to admit it was class.

There was only one available upstairs in the discount rack, so it obviously was a one off sample that they never followed through with. I'll try and get a photo of it, but it would have been very popular i'd say.

(I sound like an O'Neills shill with my ladt 2 posts!)

I have one those 1995 jerseys and am such a saddo that I went to Stephens Green shopping centre and got a number 6 printed on to the back!

    Indeed! The one and only.

Do you give Rathnew any chance against Vinnies tomorrow? Is it in Rathnew or aughrim?

I don't off top of my head recall Sheedy playing in 95. Think midfield was Bealin - whose Da Mark is Wicklowman - and Stynes? Heery definitely didn't play as he had walked off the panel. Deegan might have been right half? Gavin was in half forwards.

    Stynes seems to have disappeared.

Sheedy won Leinster final against Meath in 94 I think with monster point at the end. There were a few players who were unfortunate to miss out on 1995 after all they'd been through. Such is life.

Cummins sports have added their 2017/2018 Cork range to their site. Would suggest that Chill are remaining on board? No word on jersey yet

They played in the first AIG jersey in the 2014 and 2015 Championship seasons and the current one in 2016 and 2017 Championship seasons. If they don't have a new one launched before the league I'd say they certainly will before the Championship starts. I would imagine O'Neills are moving away from 3 year cycles for the top tier counties where they know jerseys will sell.

Played in old AIG jersey into 2016 league. Only wore new jersey from Championship 2016. First game was v Laois down in Nowlan Park.

As I said, under old cycle would be due a change at end of 2018. We won't know til they change it I suppose.

Based on the changes so far it would look like we could get one come Championship 2018.

Got one myself last summer. Good few of them there. Mad to buy a brand new shirt with older material. It's my favourite shirt I own. Though I won't wear it to All-Ireland finals. :)

They need to get the navy back on the jersey.

I'd agree, but with the white AIG logo it looks off to have navy trim in the previous jersey. Ideally it would be a navy AIG logo with navy trim, but I'd say AIG are throwing wads of cash to have their brand displayed as they wish. Not as bad as the red Vodafone blob one from a few years ago.

Any chance of a picture? I'm curious as to how it would look.

I had Paul Bealin's jersey from league replay in 1992 against Donegal which was my proudest possession. Stupidly lended it to my sister when she was staying with us before 1995 Leinster final.

After months of pestering her, she told me she had thrown it out when they were moving. "Anyway, there were blood stains on it."

I have just about forgiven her ....

Would normally be Aughrim but I wouldn't know much about what Rathnew are like at all, I only really pay attention to hurling in Wicklow.

I'd say it's a safe bet to put the house on Vincents though! :D

Used to know that Dublin team off by heart but the old noggin is fuzzy these days. Heery, Barr, Curran for the line at least. Was Sheedy in midfield on that team?

I hope you didn’t place that bet.

    Luckily enough I never do.

A rare occurrence for myself. Last bet I had was on F1 about a year ago. Pure chance occurrence.

    .

Hopefully not, never cared for the navy sleeve design and associate it with a less than stellar era :o

Plain, bold jerseys work for me

I hope you didn’t place that bet.

    I had considered it.
But Dublin teams away from home can be flaky.

time to get the Dublin county team down to Aughrim, Wexford and elsewhere to play.

Dublin have lost one championship game out of 40 played outside of Dublin since 1973. Oh, very flakey :)

how many games have they played away from Dublin?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,665 ✭✭✭Bonniedog

Actually left out a few qualifiers so record is 46 played, lost two, drew one.

At end of the day it doesn't matter where Dublin or Kerry or Kilkenny play. They will always be the predominant teams in both sports.

    Ce la vie.

I know a few dubs here might be interested in this, slightly off topic I know but I haven't seen many myself
