802.11n usb adapter not showing any conntections?

    I bought one of those USB wireless adapters for temporary use on my PC or for when travelling with it. I've used one before in the past on a different PC with no problems.

    A disk came with it with the driver which I have installed but its not detecting any WiFi networks. They are enabled in device manager and "turn off to save power" is disabled.

    This is what it looks like:

    There is also the options of install utilities on the disk which I've tried but it seems it only for people who are connecting through WPS etc and hasn't helped.

    Any ideas?

    I have had some problems with mine recently.
    I am using Linux ...... but have no idea what OS you are using as you did not say.
