I remember as child I always enjoyed autumn, at first the smell of first fires, rich colour of leaves, bite in the air and then in November smell of roasting chestnuts, first ice on the ground and shorter days. In reality it probably raibed 14 days straight and roasted chestnuts really aren't that special but it was different than summer and it made you excited waiting for the winter. I didn't grow up in Ireland but I'm sure there are small pleasures that kids (and adults) can find in November too. I don't really care if someone wants to put decorations up in November but I honestly can't comprehend why would you. It's like wearing winter coat in September, you are completely fed up when you still need it in April.

I wonder about the people who put their tree up early, and then when they take it down on the 1st Jan , they say 'ah, delighted to have my house back'. Well why the fook did you put your tree up in August then?

It's bad enough the shops putting up their decorations while the kids are still out trick or treating. Can we not just have a quiet, peaceful November and then go all out Christmassy in December?

Weirdos, simple as that. December 1st to January 1st.

January 1st is odd. Dec 1 - 31 is what the sane people do.
