I thought this too. Especially as Dan urged him not to contact this Aoife one and to just let it go,when he's normally the nosiest going!!

Hasn't it been mentioned before that Dan was overly violent and aggressive in his army days? He caused a guy to be left a vegetable as far as I can remember. Maybe he assaulted Karen's mam and that's why she ran off so suddenly?

I think its Dan as well.....heading towards a bust up between Robbie and Dan I think......

Just throwing it out there - maybe Dan is Karen's Dad ??
Maybe they are tying the Dan/Caddle kiss in there as a sort of pre-cursor ??
Maybe Dan had more than a kiss with Karen's Mam behind Robbie's back ??
Maybe I'm giving the writers way too much credit ??

So Robbie questions the fact that Karen had been in Carraigstown for about a year... (weirdly observant but of course that was for us, the viewers benefit) and said nothing. So she says out of respect to her Step Dad but he had now passed 3 months ago

ok. ... so I recall her planning to travel and leave Pat of Caffee behind and he didnt really want her to go but didnt want to stand in her way and with a bit of meddling, low and behold they discover that she doesnt want to leave and he doesnt want her to.. really. But at no point during that whole "tense drama" did she mention her Dad passing nor did he and the timeline would match

I think another poster hit the nail on the head here when they said the writers didnt know what to do with Karen. They could have come up with better than this.. ! She would have confided in her boyfriend whom she loved enough not to leave behind and travel the world but she never mentioned the fact that she felt Robbie may be her Dad and even when he was suspicious that she had feelings for Robbie, she still didnt confide in him, her boyfriend. She allowed him to break up with her. .. what a load of crap

    Sunday.
The Brennans cause trouble at Vinos, and while Robbie lashes out at his family, Oakley moves to neutralise Doug. Plus, Decco unwittingly draws Kerri-Ann and Mondo together.

Going back to Juliet, when Kira Cassidy was pregnant she turned to her sister Niamh as her mother Gina wasn't impressed. Niamh really supported Kira until Gina began to help her younger daughter.

Years later, Ray and Gina were to marry but Gina was killed. Ever since then Ray has been very welcome at the Brennan's, treated like family.

So, it is really really strange that Niamh wouldn't at least talk to Ray about her niece and his grand daughter. It's like the script writers have completely forgotten who Juliet's mother was!

Similarly Orla would be a cousin of Juliet's mother. Orla always seemed involved with the Cassidys so again it's odd that Orla wasn't familiar with Juliet.

We need Kira Cassidy back, even if it's a different actor. Mondo could have Kerri Anne, Kira and Melanie all chasing after him

I wouldn't find Orla the most annoying female character.

There's a list of them.. Carol is near the top at present. Kerri Anne is close to the top too, little ditzy girl lost wears thin after a while. Caoimhe is a pain and that oul jaw of hers and semi shocked expression. Many find Juliet annoying, i don't really mind her tbh. She seems like your average teenage girl, more of a southsider than Carrickstown though. Niamh is a bigger pain than Orla and the fact that she's such a pathetic character who could never leave Paul. Beetlejuice Hayley is a gobsh*te too. Zero dress sense, full of herself, nice hair i'll admit, in no way likeable. Ama is another annoying character, sticking her beak in where it's not wanted. Rennee is unpredictable.

Laura and Nina.. meh.. Charlotte, still young and immature.

There are very few likeable females on FC. At a stretch Jackie, Melanie (when she isn't being an Armenian racist), the mature Dolores as opposed to the Fr. Thaddeus chasing one, i don't mind Farrah, Ruthie gets thumbs up, though in her last appearances she was turning into a 5 year old bully! I always liked Sash. Sincere, decent girl. Not really going anywhere relationship or storywise though. Jane looks well and is alright characterwise at the moment. Still you feel she's a schemer at heart. Red haired Amanda carries chips on both shoulders and Cass seems to have locked her in his shed:D

Katy.. ah i've kinda got KT overload over the past year and a half. Messed up and will probably return from Donegal as bad if not worse. There never seemed to be a whole lot to her before she Ciaran bar she was Daddy's girl and then coming out.

Rose is a fairly decent depiction of a lady in her 70s from her background and acts well. After her real life husband's passing she seems to be taking (Geraldine Plunkett) some time out, naturally. Nora is ok too, bar when she thought she was Wonder Woman and going to take on Cathal and his associates. Allanah the guard is a bit of a drip.

Think i've covered them all.. On to the men sometime!

P.s. Manson....very interesting. Hannah...very vulnerable and need to see more of her before judgement. Lucy, 2012, great character, psycho.

When I was Juliet's age, if I had treated people the way she does, my family would make sure I knew ALL about it. She deserves a good slap. Every time she comes on screen I just roll my eyes because I know I'll end up annoyed. She has such a 'poor me'/spoilt brat attitude and it wrecks my head that Mondo is so oblivious to it.

The women of Fair city are certainly rowdy. I wouldn't mess with them.

Niamh was all about Juliet a few years ago when she used to just visit Mondo and return to Liverpool before the character was recasted.

Whatever happened to the other Cassidy sister, Catriona? She was a trainee hairdresser with Una, I think.

That was an excellent post some very good points well made. I don't know if its just coincidence or not but at long last there are some new and very interesting characters in FC to replace the same old washing machine of affair-gangster-affair-breakdown-gangster-catfight that we have been served up with Niamh, Carol and Orla, 3 completely played out and boring characters at this stage.

Manson and the Phoneix Way was like a bucket of cold water in the face a really original and much needed injection of new blood tied with an intriguing storyline. A New Age cult leader that brainwashes half the town and is looking to expand across the world? Certainly not something you see every day on a soap and I'm glued to every scene involving PW. Hannah and Dr Oakley and now Katy are going to be crucial to the progress of this storyline. Ive given out a lot about this soap but I will always give credit when I see it.

Its great to see new characters like Kevin, Hannah, Karen, Manson and Melanie. Oisin is criminally underused as well.

Lets face it they have NOTHING left to do with Damien, Orla, Paul, Delores etc Literally nothing. It looks like a Damien Orla affair yawn what a heap of crap, it wont come to anything. Damien and Orla and Wayne will still be stinking up the place in 2027 doing the same old thing they always do.

The romance is not far off between orla and hands in his pockets. I could feel the sexual tension there tonight

I thought something was going to happen tonight - Wayne being called away for the evening, leaving them alone. You're right, won't be much longer!

I see the classic orla look twinkle in her eye as she sat at the table and looked at Damien undressing him with her eyes... Why I do not know but I suppose it takes allsorts to make the world go round....

Damien and Orla will end up shagging after their curry while Wayne enjoys his KitKat down in Arklow.

youd think orla with her present 99 opel corsa (wayne) would want to trade that in for a much newer improved model .... but oh no, we are talking about damien here ! - i think (although i would never thought I would be saying such a thing) that she would be going a step backwards if she went off with Damien (if thats possible)- all them virile batchelors in Carriagstown and shes making eyes at Damien??? - I dunno its a funny ol' world innit ...

Can you imagine Damo and Orla playing happy families? Orla's child is the Ram's child and Damo's child is the Ram's grandchild. Saoirse is Junior's niece

I'm sure the writers will forget that too and have them get together in 20 odd years.

Kerry-Ann has gone to winter mode. She now wears a summer dress with a woolly hat and uggs.

I think Sean did recognise who Juliette was when he looked at her fake i.d. Maybe Niamh will have interraction with her when she's back on our screens.

There used to be a load of the Cassidys. Niamh doesn't really have contact with any of her siblings. Even Sean anymore.

Wtf was Robbie thinking when he put that floral shirt on lolol :D

A list of potential breakups and marital strife.

Decco and Kerri Ann. The triangle completed by Mondo. Probably looks the most likely for a complete break up. In turn that breaks up Melanie and Mondo.

Wayne and Orla. Still finding it hard to get my head around Orla's sudden interest in Damo. She's looking him up and down and friendly tap on the shoulder last night. Bit strange. Her and Wayne were looking at their most solid compared to a year or 2 ago.

Robbie and Carol.. Most people would have walked from Carol at this stage but i have a feeling the worst is over for them.. for the time being. Robbie felt Aoife, Karen's mam would not have cheated on him. Dan seems to remember a different Aoife. Looking like he's Karen's dad. Could be strife between Dan and Robbie. Bit of old history re. Aoife cheating with his best friend dug up.. Also despite seeming a bit lukewarm i think Robbie was coming around to the idea of having a 23 year old daughter.

Paul and Niamh. Will never separate!! How will FC handle Niamh's departure and leave open an avenue for her return? Car accident, treatment needed abroad? Done before with Ben. Career move and we're led to believe Paul and the children visit her abroad the odd weekend? Will Markus have anything to do with it.. it would seem unlikely as they'd have to split Paul and Niamh.

Nagdefy, you're on a roll today. All really good points. I fear though that Niamhs departure is going to be totally lame and she'll go to Barcelona to be with Rachel or other anti climax.
