Motorized valve position. I’m going crazy or my plumbing is backwards!

    Hi all.

I’m either going crazy or my valves are fitted backwards. I hope somebody can clear this up for me.

I’ve been having some issues with my heating in 2 of my zones.

When checking my motorized valves I noticed the actuator slot and the valve spindle on the valve itself do not align when in the off position!.

See the first pic below with the the unenergized state of the motorized valve removed and beside the valve spindle.

Both are pointing in the same direction. The issue is the valve in its mounted (inverted position) clearly does not align. Therefore my motorized valves can never turn the valve spindles to the fully off position!.

They align fine when the valve is energized and the valve spindle is in the open position!!. See below.

I’m thinking that the problem is with all my physical valves. Are these not standard?.
I’m sure the motorized valve is turning the right way in the off position as above.

Can anyone shed any light on why this is the case?. As an fyi the valve is mounted correctly from A to B. See below

Any help in this is much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

On the underside of the valve body there is an arrow showing the direction of flow.In my opinion, the valve is in the open position in the first picture
