Differences in brain activity between responsible people and less responsible ones

    I remember one day thinking how I could learn to become more responsible for my work deadlines. As a result, I am developing a project which looks at the cognitive behaviour of responsible people compared to their less responsible counterparts, as part of BT Young Scientist.

    So I will contact college lecturers who specialise in neuroscience that can give advice on the project and what equipment I should use.

    See Veronica X. Yan, Khanh-Phuong Thai, and Robert A. Bjork in Habits and beliefs that guide self-regulated learning: Do they vary with mindset? Journal of Applied Research in Memory and Cognition, Volume 3, Issue 3, September 2014, Pages 140-152. Although it's a study on student learning, it also examines mindsets, metacognitive skills, habits, and being deadline-driven when learning. Then again, your approach to measurement may be quite different, perhaps using MRI?

    Could go well with my project, since it covers deadlines and the idea of intrinsic motivation.

    I have some bad news. My project didn't qualify for the finals which will take place in January. Only 550 projects qualified out of 2,033 submissions.

    At least I got a certificate for submitting my project.

    Sorry about that :(. Will you still be looking into it in your own time? Like don't let that get to you and kill your motivation. I'm doing my volcanoes project or research for instance completely out of my own choice. I'm doing it to help climatologists and meteorologists understand volcanoes and what they could mean for us here in Ireland.
