It's not the price. 1.2 not available in auto and wouldn't go near 1.6 petrol

There’s a English review on YouTube and he’s driving the automatic 1.2 petrol, the more I look at the current spec sheet from Peugeot.ie the more I think it’ll change come January, the don’t even have all the colours in it.

    Hoping for a 1.6 petrol Manual : )

I'm happy out woth the 1.6 diesel. For me the car ticks every practicality box. Only thing that annoys me is the boot. The floor of it looks flimsy

If you don't plan to use the third row a lot maybe something like this will help.

If your using an iPhone switch to reader view it’s the only way I can read articles from that website on my phone.

100% ordering that beauty. Will have VERY limited 3 road use.

But is it for 5008? 5008 has THREE separate seats in 2nd row, doesn't it?

Yeap that's the photo of a 3008, i think the correct photo is just missing as I 've seen other people ordering this for the 5008.

The floor in our current 5008 has taken some abuse, it's the same as the new one and has held up perfect.

One thing to look for in 5008 - how long the boot mat is.

Does it reach the 2nd row of seats or it just reaches the point when the foot well for 3rd row starts?

18 1 offers are up on their website. Unfortunately nothing new for the 5008 and 3008 :(

5008 just group tested in Autocar. Ranked fourth behind Land Rover, Tiguan and Kodiaq. They like it but not a class leader in their opinion.

What land rover was it? Discovery is surely a different class to those?

Discovery Sport I think. GT line similar money to mid spec Discovery over there.

Discovery Sport SE same price as GT line in UK.

It is if you need 3 isofix, the discovery is double the price.

Discovery and Tiguan are more expensive, less spacious too. Especially the discovery is like a toy car at that spec level, nothing inside. Kodiaq is ugly and boring AF, also less spacious, also no separate three seats.

And Autoexpress have done a group test for petrol models against the Kodiaq and xtrail puttting the 5008 first. These tests are very subjective and differ every time.

A family SUV that can't fit three boosters across the second row with ease is an instant fail imo, that is to say, we had to disregard them immediately. That includes the Kodiaq and the xtrail.

Some of the reviewers don't fully understand the market these cars are aimed at.

This is a very good review going through things that actually make sense.
I had to use the subtitles translation, but it's one of the few reviews that actually reviews the things for what they are really are.

Including the Drivers Seat review puts the 5008 ahead of those very vehicles also. For every review in favour of the Kodiaq you'll find one for the 5008 also.

As it happens I drove all three (not the tiguan), but leaving the Disco sport aside, just recently have driven the 5008 and Kodiaq extensively, the 5008 4 times and the Kodiaq twice, including the last time 10 minutes apart. In the end some of the deal breakers for me were far too much cheap plastic in the Kodiaq, so much so my Wife and I were quite surprised given some people quite ludicrously putting the build quality on par with a BMW 5 Series, that's just laughable! The instrument cluster is very dated, including a dot matrix screen in the middle of it. The Arm rest didn't seem very secure either. The Leather Seats, well I doubt they were leather because the seemed very cheap and vinyl like. The car did have its good points too, particularly the DSG when on the move, and seemed quite solid. The Columbus infotainment I would think is a good bit better than the Pug too. Dare I say its more SUV like, does that make sense??
10 minutes later we drove the 5008, we looked at each other and just thought the quality was far better, not to mention all the toys in the GT-Line also. It drives lovely and looks far nicer inside and out (subjective I know).
Anyhow different strokes for different folks, but I just cannot agree that the Skoda is all great quality, it just isn't!!

The [Kodiaq's] Leather Seats, well I doubt they were leather because the seemed very cheap and vinyl like.
I find that very hard to believe - they can hardly sell it as leather if it isn't....
    [The 5008] drives lovely
What's your opinion on the steering?
A lot of reviews I've read mention the shortcomings of Peugeot's now-ubiquitous small, low-set steering wheel which on the 5008 supposedly makes the steering suffer and it feels very detached, almost the the extent that it's disconcerting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 618 ✭✭✭SmithySeller

Dunno what the law is Gwynston, but I stand over what I said (they felt and looked cheap). What I do know is that the difference in leather quality can be chalk and cheese. I would imagine that a certain % of real leather can qualify you to say 'Leather seats'.
Things like Nappa, full grain, full analine, semi analine, all can have different qualities, never mind the Faux Leather.

The steering wheel is fine and somewhat over stated. The Kodiaq wheel is actually quite small also. It's more the top and bottom is straightened out. Its not that low at all, its more the instrument cluster is relatively high also. Honestly, its not something that I took note of and funny you should mention it because you are right that it's mentioned in a lot in reviews. A non-issue in my view though!

BTW, to offer a bit more balance the GT-Line does not come with Leather Seats, they are a whopping €3600 extra (but includes massage, memory, automation etc, €1900 extra in other markets for the leather alone), but its nappa full grain leather. The Kodiaq Style are a €200 extra or thereabouts and comes with Alcantara as standard.

In France the EAT8 is already available. More emissions? I thought the reason for an 8speed would be to lower consumption.

Wouldn't have expected that. You can order the EAT8 here on the GT, €250 extra!

Its hardly EAT8 with Grip Control versus EAT6 without GC? The GC does add emissions!
