    Surprisingly low.

That was at 350feet (110m or so) but it was a foggy day, so was only over low lying cloud.

I'm actually looking forward to winter flying now.

I am so freaked out about going high. I live in a very rural spot, but the air corps are always out training around me, plus there are a few lads with helicopters that come and go. I have been up to about 110m too but didnt want to push it more than that.

Is there a minimum height that aircraft generally fly at. The helicopters do seem very low.

Also, my drone has started giving me a Gimball disconnected warning. Although it does fly and perform as normal. Anybody else experiencing this ?

Edit - I found it. The minimum height is just 150m. Seems that I was not far off:

120 meters/400 for for drones (Unmanned aircraft), manned aircrafts don’t usually go below 500 feet/150 meters, unless taking off or landing

Just wondering has anyone any thoughts on the DJI Spark. Thinking oif getting one as the Mavik Pro is out of my price range. Would the spark be worth it?

Haven't seen one up close, but Casey Neistat gives it a pretty solid review, which is where I usually base my purchases on.

Just an aside though, might be worthwhile checking out the Xiaomi drone in tedpans thread.

Seems a cracker drone for the price.

Class would you have a link to that? its the portability that is drawing me to the spark easy to fit in a backpack travelling

I think if you can live with lack of 4K recording (which most of us can live without, some don’t have the PC’s powerful enough tto edit this type of footage), shorter flight time due to a smaller battery and a gimbal with 2-way stabilisation (3-way on Mavic nad Phantoms) then the Spark is a good option.
It all depends what do you want if for, if it’s personal use and memories then the Spark is great, very portable and lightweight.

I’m thinking of changing my Phantom 3 SE and replacing it with the Spark, just for ease of transport and to be able to travel with it.

I just had one with me on a trip to Bali, Ill send you the link to the video if you like so you can see the footage. Only got it working for 4 of the 14 days due to an issue with my sd card.

I bought it for the same reason as you are thinking, portability. Its very portable, quick to get off the ground and doesn't draw attention (Great for people like me who hate whipping it out in public and messing around with it :) )
Packs away nice and neatly and for what I need it for the image quality is terrific (I dont need 4k)

The disadvantages are its not great on a beach with a bit of wind, its quite slow when battling a bit of wind.
Also if you put it into sport mode to get it to move faster the battery drains 1% per second (Not joking)
Speaking of the battery you do find it runs out quickly. I was filming surfers one day and waiting for them to take off so I could track them as they rode a wave. My battery ran out waiting for them which was not ideal.
The intelligent flight modes are great though and really easy to set up and use.
I'm very new to all this and its my first drone. I do absolutely love it but the flight time was a real let down in the real world and something I really give a thought to.I figured 13 minutes would be plenty and even had a second battery.
But I might have been using it for a very specific purpose, not just chucking it up in the air to get a birds eye view.

The return to home feature works great and I had to use it once when I actually couldn't see the drone.

I think its a safe bet and if you outgrow it you can easily sell it and not lose money on it.

That's as fair and honest review as you're likely to see.

Ref the battery, I keep wondering as technology evolves if we'll eventually see new batteries rolled out with improved flying times as aftermarket products?

I have a mavic, but tbf I am getting in and around 20-25 minutes flying time, I have a spare couple of batteries that came with mine too, so I easily get 1hr flights in.

For anyone interested here is some spark footage. Please ignore the cheesey ending.
All edited through the dji app which was a bloody nightmare so if you ever are doing something similar avoid it as the edits are very very hard to get precisely lined up with music (Turn on the sound to hear what I mean) and it limits you to 20 clips.

You might havw to change the settings in your Youtube app if your playing it on your phone as i think most phones play it back at 480p

Really like it, strange there's only a 720p setting on YouTube, maybe thats the output footage from the DJI app?

    Thanks for sharing :)

Anybody got any recommendations for an app that will let me edit my footage?

    Firstly; congrats dude!
Secondly, jesus I would have had a heart attack at the 2 minute mark when the wave nearly hit the Spark!

When editing your footage did you first download the original videos from the deone or did you edit the ones that were saved by the Go app?

I don’t know what phone have you got but on Iphone you could use Filmora Go and Imovie to name 2 to edit the footage and export in 1080p.

Yep, downloaded off the SD card before editing. It seems its just a limitation of the app. I read up on Filmora so I might give it a shot, just need new footage to work with I suppose.

I may just download all footage to my laptop and work with it in there to be honest

Yeah, I use the pc for editing, lucky the spark doesn't go to 4k, it's a bitch to edit. I do everything in 1080p.

Anyway, I used to use Windows movie editor until I upgraded my laptop and Microsoft stopped supporting it so it's not downloadable anymore. Some guy is selling it for 30 quid, which is far too much for a basic editor.

There are lots of cloud based editing software packages available but I don't like paying a monthly subscription.

I'm using movavi video editor 11. Cost me 20euro. I think they have a new version out now. Does everything I need.

Good luck and thanks again for the awesome video!

For anyone thinking on the spark, go and get it! its a great little thing!!

I brought it over to Iceland 2 weeks ago and did a quick edit with the footage I took

Its so handy to pack and also doesn't attract a lot of attention when you put it up as its not as noisy as bigger drones or noticeable in the sky either.

That footage is unreal. Was actually one of the main reasons I was looking for one. Heading to Iceland in easter. Where is the best place to buy one in Ireland or buy online?

TomTop advertising 13% off if you use PayPal

Unclear if it's site wide or just the items listed. Was gonna push me over the edge to order the Mavic Pro (and chance TopCashBack for a further 8% off)

It's not working when I try checkout, and neither is a 5% voucher code they flash up whenever I visit the site. Anyone any idea what's up?

The flymore bundle with tomtop is what I went for and used top cash back to get an extra few quid off it, I wouldnt go for the drone on its own, the remote is extremely handy!!

Just tried the 5% on the Mavic and another item. Applied to the other item but not the Mavic

That is excellent footage. I literally did most of that in Iceland last year and spent the whole time saying I wish I had a drone. Now I've a Spark and cant wait to go back :D
