If you like watching crap refereeing displays, you missed a gem.

Seen some of them on the news... some 'robust' challenges from Motherwell. Celtic players better watch out next month

    2 match ban for Alves...

Nothing about Bowman (yet) oddly enough.

Club aren't happy about it. Statement has been released.

How has he been playing? Is it much of a loss?

Just seen the incident with Bowman on the STV news, he was not even looking at the Rangers player and was always looking at the ball, it was not intentional

Apparently the compliane officer also saw it as reckless and not violent, but professional players in general know where the opponent is. You can look at the ball and still plant an elbow.
Intent isn't necessary, it's still dangerous play. It's not even just Bowman, the thing Alves got that ban for should also see Moult up in front of any review panel.

Alves deserved to walk, but if it's true that he's gonna be the only one to be punished then that's beyond a joke.

A loss, but not that big I think. One of the 2 games is in the next League Cup game Rangers play I believe.

I thought Moult and Herrera were given yellows for the incident and Alves escaped therefore only Alves can be referred. I agree the Alves, Moult and Herrera should have been off for that incident

As for Bowman, it was accidental and did not look as a severe injury sa it turned out in the moments after the incident

That's a pretty fair assessment in my eyes, though I wouldn't be as convinced as you that Bowman was entirely innocent but no way you could prove it wasn't accidental and sfa can't go on a hunch.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

There does need t have to be intent he was not n a yellow for using his elbow so for the co to say it was viewed as reckless therefore only worthy of a yellow means he should have received a ban. The co has been so inconsistent this season and last that the whole system has to be overhauled

Fair enough, probably warranted a yellow at the time which would have seen him off.

    I always thought that the compliance officer could only refer cases where;

    1. the incident would merit a straight red (ruling out Bowman)
    2. where the ref has not dealt with it (ruling out Moult and Herrera but including Alves)

With that in mind, the statement from Rangers is comical in the extreme

100% correct, but obviously Rangers don't want the same rules applied to them as everyone else. Was the same when Stockley(?) broke Tierneys jaw. Was seen as accidental so the CO couldn't cite him as it would have been a yellow if the ref had spotted it.

Rangers want the same rules applied to them as for anyone else. The whole compliance officer system is broken. Anyone can refer incidents to the CO, there is no explanation as to why a ruling was made,...
Not to mention that it's crystal clear there is no consistency in rulings.

It's totally obscure, if you're fine with that then the issue isn't with Rangers.

I'd imagine the ruling was made because he kicked Moult. Fairly obvious to most "fair minded football fans".

I've already said he deserved to be sent off. But you can't just assume it was because of that, it has to be clearly mentioned which doesn't happen.

But he wasn't the only one who was involved, and there were numerous incidents throughout the game where players should have either been carded then and there or afterwards punished by the compliance officer.
Breaking someone's nose for example, despite trying to claim it was an accident.

As above, either the ref saw it and put it in his report, meaning the CO can't do anything, or the CO watched it, deemed it should have been a yellow and was unable to cite it. Exact same situation with Tierney-Stockley.

How times have changed. Less than a decade ago it was Celtic fans who were paranoid about decisions/rulings going against us.

    Who's being paranoid ?
All I'm saying is that the standard of refereeing and that whole compliance officer setup is a mess, which is simply true. And it's not improving at all, it looks like every year refs get worse.

    Hell, even Rodgers agrees ;)

Mentions of compliance officer in story: 0

“I tend to think the referees here do their very, very best." He does mention that they are part-time though.

He talks about the game on Sunday, i'm sure with one eye on the Cup Final. And wants referee's to be stronger because "It got out of control at the end, because players – known professionals – were trying to avenge things."

Makes no mention of refs getting worse every year.

1-1 and Jack off. Is that his 3rd red in as many games??

Board meeting called about Pedro, can't see him being in charge by Saturday.

edit: It was a planned meeting it seems, no doubt it will come up though.

Agreed, really not going to to change anything and makes their club look pretty small. Appreciate they were frustrated but silly to release that.

Clubs have to speak out though. The standard of refereeing in Scotland is abysmal and if justified criticism is always done away with 'lol you lost get over it' nothing will change.

I know the officiating is woeful but personally that statement specifically just looked a bit childish. "that's not fair, he got away with it" type stuff. To me anyway.

Pedro sacked according to Andy Devlin of the Sun.

    Also Alves loses appeal.

Billy Davies is currently favourite. Underwhelming for most Rangers fans I'd have thought.

Echo what Broxi says. Wouldn't have him near the place. The board have to get this appointment right and I'm not convinced that they have the ability to do that. Hope that they bring in some external help to aid them. Think it'll be someone who 'knows the league' though.
