I get bursts of excitement about starting and then the FEAR kicks in. BUT, I feel very lucky to be starting with all you "boardies"...without you guys throughout the waiting game I would of went INSANE...I have no doubt we will all get eachother through the big game of GV :D
Totally the same feelings. But agree. I don't think there has been an intake with thei many of us lot on here. I could be wrong though. What's app is a super idea. Just have to remember to be careful what is sent. Have heard of phones being checked but how true that is I don't know.

Could find out our stations in first week of training

"The programme is now 23 weeks. Student officers will be assigned their policing district during their induction and spend a full day in their future operational station during the first week of their training.

I believe that was on of the reforms highlighted in the recent report, officers hadn't even stepped into an operational station during the entire training period.

Is anyone taking up the offer for a visitor??

I am! Know a few people currently in GV and they said it helps give them an insight of what we will be experiencing. So they can support you etc :D

Running mostly. Not much fun in this crappy weather though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 475 ✭✭blueboat

Yea had to force myself tonight to get out, really really horrible weather,  happy that its over and done now though. Keep running past other people and the thought crosses my mind, I wonder if they're a boardie too??

    It's not on mine.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,640 ✭✭✭Homer01

    It's not on mine.

    Oh, perhaps I'm special lol

I have my actual Medical Card from years ago and the number on it matches the number on my birth certificate. I may call the Doctors to double check then.

My birth certificate is from many many many years ago so maybe it has changed. My medical number is different to the code on my birth certificate. But interesting to know.

I agree about the running, although coming home like a drowned rat may have gave me the cold! Is everyone looking forward to meeting at the induction?

Yep got the email. Nerves are natural you'll be grand, we'll all be feeling the same at induction.

  • Registered Users Posts: 201 ✭✭letsdoit2013

Getting real now bais and girls ;)

  • Registered Users Posts: 81 ✭✭MayDupname

Good luck to all in here, you'll be grand, the nerves are there to keep you on your toes. If you could take a sneaky head court at induction it would really help us lot waiting on the call. That's presuming it's before the FOI is answered. With the number of boardies in this intake I'm hoping we're up to larger intakes again. But who knows. Anyway, all the best and hopefully I'll see a few of you in GV in the not to distant future.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,640 ✭✭✭Homer01

I had a great day. Was good to talk with the other squads and gain some insights into college life.

No doubt about it, it's going to be a busy 23 weeks and beyond but I can't wait to get started :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 475 ✭✭blueboat

Yea only getting round to fully taking it all in. Very excited now to start. Under no illusions as well. It’s gonna be tough.

Anyone else finding it a bit tricky memorising the definitions?

  • Registered Users Posts: 263 ✭✭RedPool2891

Nope - I'm still in the virtual waiting room, flicking through dog-eared copies of the Ulster Tatler from 1996 :D

I'm sure they'll sink in... eventually!
