Is that sorted in order? Regardless, GTA V been in that list is hella impressive. Some game.

It still sells like mad 4 years after release. It's insane.

The Switch was never intended to be a direct competitor with the PS4/Xbox though, was it? Added to that, it's a little disingenuous to compare PS4 or Xbox game sales vs Switch ones, as they have both been out for four years at this point while the Switch has been out about 6 months. Apparently 63mn (PS4) and 30mn (Xbox One) units of thsoe consoles have been sold, vs. 4mn for the Switch so far which hasn't even had a Christmas run yet.

I was surprised to see the 3DS (released 2011) appears to have outsold the Xbox One and and PS4 at 67mn which will make things interesting down the line as the Switch offers the same portability aspect that likely drove a lot of sales for the 3DS - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_game_consoles

Yep, built two PCs on the cheap as gifts earlier in the year and when stocking up a bit of a cheapo starter library of games from 3-5 years back for them, I was surprised to see GTA is more or less still full price. As much as I was in the camp that would have loved to see all those multiplayer focus go into single players stuff you really can't argue with the results. Even in 2013 it was the biggest selling piece of media full stop for the entire year if I recall, I remember seeing it on Sky News and such because it was a bit of a landmark moment in terms of the viability/status/whatever of 'AAA' games, and it's done nothing but steamroll money ever since.

They are so swamped with all that money, they forgot to do single player DLC ha. Fair play to them, nice to see companies who put the effort into making quality games get rewarded.

I think it's just September sales in order yes.

GTA V sales are scary, Rockstar I expect would never reveal revenue but I'd say it's one of the biggest selling pieces of media in history (not to mention all the money they make on microtransactions)
80m copies shipped as of May this year and as according to this latest report, GTA Online is the single largest contributor to the $268m they made in the last quarter.

In terms of pure numbers, I believe Minecraft is the only thing that beats it in terms of comparable sales.

I remember even my boss asking me about it the week after it came out because he'd read a bunch of articles about how it sold almost €1bn in its first week.

I will just mark in bold the top selling games as of September 2017 for Nintendo platforms.

Like you say Uncharted is a blockbuster apparently but Mario and Rabbids cannot be? Why so? It is highly regarded by critics and users alike.
What defines a blockbuster? Sales and system sales?
    Same with movies it's sales.

*Titles marked with an asterisk do not include digital sales*

    Destiny 2*
    NBA 2K18
    Madden NFL 18
    FIFA 18
    Mario & Rabbids: Kingdom Battle*
    Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite
    Grand Theft Auto V
    NHL 18
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild*
    Rainbow Six Siege
    Mario Kart 8*
    Metroid: Samus Returns*
    Pokken Tournament*
    Overwatch*
    Ark: Survival Evolved*
    Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
    NBA Live 18
    Splatoon 2*
    Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
    Minecraft

I don't know to be honest. Like when you mention PlayStation people would think Uncharted.

Will the same be said for Rabbids in the future? I know Mario and Zelda will definitely be mentioned in that context.

Another thing to consider is there hasn't been a massive amount of games released yet for Switch so most games out now will have a high attach rate.

When you look at PlayStation and Xbox the best selling games will generally be multi platforms like Overwatch, Destiny, FIFA, Minecraft, COD and Battlefield, especially among 'younger' gamers.

I think Switch will be an excellent family console and looking at things so far it'll have loads of really strong first party titles. I've already mentioned the Switch to two of my aunt's for their kids who wanted consoles this Christmas.

The game is Mario & Rabbids :pac:

Again the stats and facts say otherwise.
There are currently 479 games on the Nintendo Switch hardly 6 months into it's launch.

As much as I love my Switch I don't think there's over 400 games on it yet :D in development, sure, but last time I was on the store I think the 'all games' section said 18something. Still a respectable amount for the short duration it's been out.

I think I own 24 games for it so far.

So true. Even though some people may be counting the numerous mini games in 1-2 Sh!t as real games, we all know there is only a few games that people would order hard copies of.

Somebody stated there is a small number of games on the console.
    That's simply not true.
And I have provided the figure stating the current listed is 479.

There isn't. There's a list of 479 games on wikipedia (where I'm sure you got that figure) but a large number of them are in development with no set release date. They are not currently on the Switch.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nintendo_Switch_games

Check out the release dates on the games on the list above…

Is there really that many? It's hard to see that many available.

Again 6 months into it's cycle that's a pretty impressive list.

    https://www.imore.com/nintendo-switch-games

I believe there was hardly 50 games when the PS4 launched in its first entire year.

    I have clarified above.
The amount of games available within 6 months is still considerably more that Xbox One or PS4 in it's first launch year.

479 and maybe 20 of them being actually good.

The Switch's gaming catalogue is very disappointed and full of mostly small indie games.

Yup, it's quality not quantity. ideally you have both.

With the Switch, it's definitely quantity over quality. Having said that, the new Mario game, which is out this Friday, might change everything.

Can't really see the ratio of forgettable shovelware to good quality games being any different to the PS4 tbh.

but it has 400 great versions of tetris!

    479, haha, hilarity!

There's about 15 hard copy games for the Switch on Amazon.co.uk.

Where did you pluck that lunatic number from? That's simply not true. It's probably not even half that figure. I wrote out elsewhere about how many games Switch had at the 6 month mark. I'll find my post and update this comment shortly.
Edit: Here's some info from a recent episode of IGN NVC podcast. Switch at the 6 month mark:

    128 games

    96 digital
    32 on cartridge

    23 NEO GEO arcade ports

    10 action adventure games
    4 shmups
0 First Person Shooters(that's a massive gap in the market)
1 Third Person Shooter, Splatoon 2
    1 board game
    3 RPG's
    3 Racers
    4 Strategy games

    Specifically 3rd party information:

    Bandai Namco 5 titles
    Capcom 1
    Activision 1
    EA 1
    Konami 1
    Microsoft 1
    Sega 2
    Square Enix 1
    Take Two 1
    Ubisoft 3
    Warner Bros. 4

Then they go on to talk about the 10 best selling games of 2016, which I presume was for America.

    1. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
    2. Battlefield 1
    3. The Division
    4. NBA 2K17
    5. Madden 17
    6. GTA V
    7. Overwatch
    8. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3
    9. FIFA 17
    10. Final Fantasy XV

Of all those, we've only got FIFA and NBA. But you can pick countless other games that we're not getting, like Resident Evil 7. Instead Capcom are giving us ports of Revelations 1 and 2. But even there, they're screwing it up by having 2 as digital only.

The Switch is riddled with indie games and HAMSTER NEO-GEO arcade ports. Yes some indie games are great but the Switch needs proper 3rd party support as well. If you scroll through the pages of this specific forum and look at all the games with their own thread, the vast majority aren't on a Nintendo platform of any description.

Out of interest do you own a switch and have you actually played any of them?
There are high volumes of indie games available on both the PS4 & Xbox.

There were about 5-6 exclusives max on both those platforms whiting there launch year that would be considered decent if we are to fair in our comparisons.
Again i think alot of people continue to forget that this console isn't even out a year.

I do and yes, I have.

There might have been a small number of games in the launch year on other consoles, but at least they didn't push out as many indie games as the Switch has.
