Also, started watching Big Mouth, am a few episodes in and really enjoying it.

It's an animated show about young teenagers going through puberty and dealing with all the weirdness and hormones. Genuinely laugh out loud funny at parts. The male hormone monster cracks me up!

Watched first episode and started the second. Who is the target audience for this? The kids in it are meant to be early teens? But the dialogue is well, vulgar. I think family guy is funny but this just seems to be kinda sick. Hormone monster was saying stuff to that kid that was way too creepy.

I did and I don't remember what happened to him. Although wasn't it all lies anyway so...?

When he was interviewed earlier this year, J. Isaacs was uncertain if he was to be in Series 2. I neither heard or read anything since, but seeing as he is now in Star Trek, I wondered if that was the end of the mad evil scientist who wanted to cure death.

Isaacs, I thought, was brilliant in OA.

    Pretty sure he's dead.

    Yes.

Ah, but we don't know.. not for sure.

I wonder which actors/characters are lined up for series 2. Does anyone know?

I'm loving this show. The hormone monster is hilarious, the whole show is outrageous and so meta.

Meta? What's meta about an adult sounding monster encouraging a 12/13 year old? Nick kroll has ruined John mulanny

Just finished The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio. It stars Julianne Moore and Woody Harrelson. It's a true story. I thought it was equal parts funny and touching. Makes you really think about how some women kept households going in years gone by with little to no money coming from their alcoholic husbands.

Watched this tonight. Thought it was a bit confused about how to portray the father. I suppose the mother reacted the way she did when the kids were around for their sakes, to try and keep the situations under control but at times it was just very hard to know how to feel about any of it. I get it was the 50s/60s and she couldn't just kick him out but she almost didn't seem like a real person at times. Maybe that comes from the book the film is based on being written by her daughter who clearly idolised her.

I was referring to the show as a whole, there's an episode later on where the monster breaks the fourth wall. You do realize the monster represents puberty, he's not an external force on the boy, he's internal and represents all the ****ed up thoughts that come with a flood of hormones. It's pushed to extremes for comedic purposes which I find hilarious but I definitely don't think it's "creepy". Have you got as far as the female monster? I can't remember when she was introduced.

Oh the hormone monster isn't real. What about Santa Clause and the Easter bunny? I understand comedy is subjective, But as I got a few thanks with my original post I'll assume others agree with me when I said its creepy. I stopped watching into second episode when they got to the little girl, after episode 1 I could see where it was going and no thanks.

This is awkward but no, Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny aren't real.

Sorry if I came across as patronising but you said the way the monster talked to the boy was creepy and were talking about he was encouraging the boy, issues I would understand if the monster was supposed to be a real character but it's essentially an inner dialogue. I just don't really understand your issue but I don't need to. You wouldn't recommend it, I would. We can leave it there.

Anyone not watching Big Mouth is seriously missing out. It's light years ahead of the likes of family guy.

Just finished watching Marseillle, enjoyable political drama and Gérard Depardieu is very good as Mayor, certainly worth a watch.

I think F for Family is way better.

Fair enough. I still didn't get the meta thing? Googled it and everything to see if I missed something

Yea watched the second season a couple of weeks back, actually found the second season much, much better than the first, although I did enjoy the first season I wouldn't of called it anything special but I can defiantly see the appreciation now, great show.

    :D

I watched a film called Dear Frankie tonight.

The basic plot is a single mum has been lying to her 9 year old son, Frankie, for years about who and where his dad is. Frankie thinks his dad works on a ship sailing around the world, in reality his mum is hiding from his real dad. Frankie writes letter to his dad and his dad writes back but in reality his letters go to a PO Box in Glasgow where his mum picks them up and writes back.
Just as they move to a new town Frankie discovers the ship his dad is supposed to be on is due into the local docks the following week. Desperate to keep him from finding out the truth his mum decides to pay a stranger to pretend to be Frankie's dad for one day.
I known that sounds a bit ridiculous and the stranger is played by Gerard Butler which would have most sensible people running for the hills but don't let it put you off. It's a heartfelt little film and is not at all what I was expecting and they manage to explain all the obvious questions/problems with the mother's actions quite well. Definitely one worth checking out.

Is Mark Walberg one of the guys on the phone in Wheelman? If it's not him it sounds like some other famous actor with a Boston accent?

    TEMPEL Miniseries
Boxer-turned-nurse Mark Tempel is threatened with being kicked out of the apartment where he lives with his daughter and disabled wife. The day the mafia violently threatens his family, Tempel returns to his former life as a boxer.
Excellent crime drama, 6 30 min episodes.

Lead Balloon is worth watching if you never saw it on BBC 2. Cringey funny, I might be keener on it than some because Jack Dee, particularly in this, reminds me of my brother.
