My Bro follows Italian football, has done for decades.

Has been telling me recently how entertaining some of the teams are this season.

I watched the highlights of Juve Lazio and now the Milan derby, and isn't it sad that there is still a huge belief in Ireland/UK that Italian football is negative and boring.

Those folk are still talking about the pool v Utd game at the weekend too.

    Could't agree more
Six players scored more than 20 goals to five in England
Its the same with La Liga those who watch the smaller teams are shocked how often there is a exciting game

Not just Ireland, it's pretty much prevalent everywhere.

Imo it's one of the most entertaining competitions around these days, if not the most entertaining.

Napoli I think will win Serie A this season.

    What a team to watch.

Problem for them will be if a few injuries and when the season gets passed February. I think they will tire and fall away.

Will be interesting to see how they fare against the free-scoring Man City in the CL this week.

Roma looked great tonight going forward, but it's clear to see why they're not top 3 so far in the league. Shocking at the back.

First vs second coming up shortly. Here are the teams:
Napoli XI: Reina; Hysaj, Albiol, Koulibaly, Ghoulam; Allan, Jorginho, Hamsik; Callejon, Mertens, Insigne.

Inter XI: Handanovic; D'Ambrosio, Skriniar, Miranda, Nagatomo; Gagliardini, Borja Valero, Vecino; Candreva, Icardi, Perisic.

Tough one to call. I'll sit on the fence and say a draw.

There's something about Napoli when they've a chance to show a bit of conviction at the top of the table they tend to bottle it. That coupled with midweek exertions would male me side with inter.

    Insigne is great to watch.

Handanovic made some important saves to keep it goalless at half-time. Looks like Callejon is in some discomfort with his knee. Wonder if he will be out for the 2nd half.

    Update: Callejon is involved.

Not sure to credit Inter or criticise Napoli for them being ineffective in the second half. I can nearly see Inter knicking a goal on the break.

Handanovic MOTM for me. He's kept Inter in the game.

Update: Full-Time and it ends 0-0. It was a cagey game but I didn't think it was as bad as that scoreline might suggest. Handanovic made good saves to earn the point. Good chance for Juve and Lazio to close the gap tomorrow.

Bonucci letting down Milan today, I'm so surprised
1 win, 1 draw & 4 defeats in the last 6 in the league now. I can only think Montella is still employed cause they can get nobody else.

We're probably the worst performing side in Europe when you consider money spent.

Juve scored 6 and not one of those was from their front 4.

Immobile with another 2 goals, he's going for Signori's record :pac:

Khedira hattrick. Must be a first.

    Stunning result for Juventus.

Immobile is in great form for Lazio and I'm glad Ireland won't have to face him in the play-offs, although I see Cornelius got the winner for Atalanta and I believe we could wind up against him in a few weeks.

Have to say Spalletti has done a great job with Inter so far

I dont really know what to think of Icardi.

He's goal scoring record is super but he's overall play is just poor

Wow this Milan team is really really bad

Some waste of money during the summer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

    Individuality & Luck 2-0 Chievo.
It's such a badly managed team though. Why the f**k are they playing with a back 3 & not dropping poor performing players?

What a job Simone Inzaghi is doing at Lazio. Reappointing him when Bielsa walked was a stroke of luck for them.

Milan vs Juventus should be a good one on Saturday with both coming off 4-1 wins.

Can't wait. Thank Juve will win easily enough though. Be interesting to see Leo B v his old team.

You'll have to wait until March at the least to see this

Him being out is probably a good thing for Milan at this stage. Both these teams have been poor defensively this term though. I'd fancy Juve considering Milan's utter failure of every difficult test this season so far

Yeah wouldn't hold out the slightest bit of hope for Milan.

I agree. Italian teams are no longer the defensive outfits they were in the 90's and 00's plenty of good attacking football these days look at teams like Napoli and Lazio these days and you'll find thats no longer the case.
