Aw, the Shakey Bridge is gone? 90 years old, survived Debbie! It was reported even a few days ago that it was getting pretty fragile though, so not hugely surprising.

Had to make an urgent trip out earlier, nearly lost the car door first and had to dodge fallen boughs.On my return trip I met an eejit out walking his dogs.It was hairy enough in a vehicle with falling debris but even the idea of walking in it along a tree lined road is nuts.

There are still planes taking off at Dublin Airport and flying over built up areas!
People are advised to stay indoors but planes are still taking off!

Sun out here in West Limerick. Very windy still, gone around to SW. Don't know if the centre is passing over and we are in for more soon or if the worst has passed?

Update: They may not have realised they were in trouble, but windsurfing on a day like today, with all the warnings given, means they *did* need to be rescued. Gardaí didn't panic, made the right call, and the windsurfers should face some sort of punishment for putting other people's lives in danger.

The road from Mardyke in towards the city centre (parallel to Western Road) is just covered with downed trees too.

Looks like Ophelia is at it’s height in Ennis. Rain has stopped and leaves are blowing off trees with the intense wind. One of my neighbours trees has a broken branch hanging over the wall onto the cul de sac. One of the local hotels not too far from us has already lost power.
