I'm a scared, it's so loud yet so warm, no significant rain yet in Finglas but I'm expecting it to pelt down, very scary noise damn my autism and sensory issues.

Any roof blowing off in this weather needs investigating, terrible installation probably done by some rogue builder.

Might be a useless suggestion, but have you got noise canceling headphones?

Been watching that earth wind map site and it looks like it's starting to veer away back into the Atlantic?

Those trees coming down were probably done by rogue builders too.

    COWBOYS TED!

This is creepy now - the wind has died down entirely for the last 10 minutes or so.
I'm just outside Cork and wondering, has it passed or is that just the eye of the storm.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,495 ✭✭✭✭Billy86

Looks like we might be acquiring the next door neighbour's tree in the next few hours in Rathfarnham - not a giant one but a good 15-20ft tall and it's gone from upright to almost bent over the wall like a wet string of spaghetti on a few strong gusts lately.

Apparently the eye of the storm is still only in Dingle!

When watching the news it's a little like a general election when they pop into all the Regional correspondents.

Winds over 100k can cause structural damage.

Why are people still underestimating this storm?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,971 ✭✭✭_Dara_

It's windy at the minute, maybe it might get worse but I certainly was expecting to see trees being ripped from the ground.

A human was ripped from the earth. But who cares about her, right? Trees haven't been uprooted.

Oh except that they actually have been in Cork. Did you even do some research before posting a stock jaded response?

Will you ever take this nonsense elsewhere. Whatever your agenda is here (and yes it does appear as an agenda)

    And what's with the he/she.

PB is a he and has never identified otherwise.

The comment is perfectly legitimate. The thread is about the storm, everything and anything related has been discussed, including new reports and pictures of the storm and antidotes about the storm

Well done, another person proving the point. People like you would be frothing at the mouth of anyone else not to your liking made a stupid tasteless statement like the one Panti made.

The he/she was put there because I don't know (or care) how PB classes themselves. Only added because some jumped up poster bound to feel offended either way. Poor attempt to deflect btw. None the less, I am happy to stand corrected on that front

Messing around on Google, you get a line of twitters on the screen

Low and behold, Panti Bliss enlightens us with the promotion of her /his bar being open today's amd invites all for a pint. Sounds lovely. Also makes a normally funny joke about being able to "scream 'we are all going to die" with the gays"

Problem is, that was published well after it was announced that a girl in Waterford had died

Of course, if anyone else in the celeb scene uttered that , despite clearly not having any intention to offend, and I have no doubt there was no intention, and she /he probably was oblivious to it, they would get hammered. But no, this will be ignored

If you are offended by that tweet, you're really looking very hard to get offended.

What would they do in 3 feet of snow? What a joke they are, the eskimos would be laughing their seal skin socks off.

There is people in Tesco right now stock pilling supplies ffs, some bad weather for a few hours is all that will be happening not some ripping hurricane or tornado, absolutely no need to shut Colleges and Schools down especially in the east.

Note roof flying off school. Note to yourself "never offer advice to anyone again". Not only are you stupid you could be dangerous if one person choose your advice to ignore warnings.

I have absolutely no interest, whether it be good or bad opinion on PB but the fact is you have specifically plucked his tweet out and said that he is the only one whose silly joke won't be criticised in the celebrity scene.

That is why it comes across as a strange assumption on your behalf, distinguishing his tweet from everyone elses. And then the use of him/her and "luvvies" is telling.

All I am saying is take your wierd distinctions elsewhere. My last comment on matter.

I went into the back garden here in Stillorgan to rearrange the stuff that had blown around.
The little birds in the bushes were having a right discussion about the wind.
