It's getting bad here (Carlow). There's a plastic barrier around a telephone pole across the road from my house. I just saw a gust of wind send a man and the barrier almost flying into each other. He just barely avoided getting hit.

Very bad here in Cork, power gone.

It's getting pretty bad here in Cork all right - I can't see any damage yet, but I'm worried about the roof just from the sounds of it.
And I have to contend with four cats being furious about not being let out to chase all those leaves they can see taunting them...

Wish there was a ''hurricane'' like this every morning what a morning, the gym being empty being the highlight.
Now up to 100,000 in the southwest without power as per the radio (Newstalk I think).

I wonder why they are telling people not to go out.

On the positive side, there will be loads of timber/logs for burning next winter.

If you're on Android, hold your finger/thumb down on the image and 'share image' should come up - click that and you'll get a bunch of different options like email, facebook messenger, text etc etc... and Snapchat.

Ah sure Ireland survived other Hurricanes and is still here to tell the tale.

    Bless his Presbyterian soul.

And I won't have to keep sweeping up fallen leaves for the next 4 weeks. They've all come down in one go now :D

RTE just lost a live broadcast from Cork, Dobbo was all flustered and everything

I just lost Dobbo on RTE when the power went.
I'm not flustered or anything. A few hours without his waffle will be great ease.

What sort of ghoul bags go kite-surfing on a day like this. Feel sorry for the emergency services.

They should be charged. Pair of eejits putting the lives of rescue services in danger.

I'm actually amazed some of those trees around here are still standing.
I guess it's lucky that it's autumn and most have already shed some if not all of their leaves.

Starting to get a little breezy here, on an elevated site in north County Dublin facing the Irish sea #prayforharry. My little one is a bit bemused by it all, the missus thinks we're doomed and is ringing anyone who'll answer to tell them so and the dog is making eyes at me wanting to go walkies. F*ck off 'storm'.

    Suggestion (in a friendly manner)

Should prefix your message with your location when describing the weather your way?.

    KILDARE/DUBLIN border for example.

Might help others understand the extent and reality of the storm as it develops and approaches them
