I feel a bit sick with worry about it all now. It's weirdly quiet and just that feeling of waiting for bad news. I'm glad I don't have to go to work (well, glad I don't have to do the return journey) but at the same time at least that would have kept my mind off things. I'm very worried about my parents. They refused to take it seriously and their garden is full of loose objects. Can't stop thinking about it.

Work are waiting to see who comes in before they make a decision on whether to close. The mind boggles. Those people who come in will have to go home at some point.

That's the dumbest f*cking thing I've ever heard. They're going to wait to see who turns up before they decide whether or not it was safe to travel to work?

    Everyone else it's tough.

So should I let the 15 year old travel across the country from Mayo to Dublin to attend a concert? I'm looking out the window.. it's not windy here, can't tell by the bins, I put them away in the shed...
I could be lynched if I say no and it turns out we only needed a teacup for this storm.
Please advise, I can't shoulder this burden alone.

I might also add it may be moot as there's no buses or trains running... (what time is Ophelia due?)

I highly doubt the concert is on tbh, but if there's a red weather warning in effect you shouldn't let the 15 year old travel across the country in a the middle of a hurricane.

You will probably be lynched though.

check your company's website or ideally they should have told you not to come in. if you get the bus and they are off, then stay at home "you tried"

Have to say the storm has not actually hit Ireland yet and won't for a few more hours, maybe if you actually read up on it you would know this.

During times of hardship and strife like these I like to pray to the ghost of Mr. Ingles, who himself has lived through so many of these.

    Keep us safe Pa.

When this is over lets go burn down the Met Éireann offices so this doesn't happen again.

The amount of people on here I'd say glued to the window watching and listening for everytime something moves outside!
