Ha just back from the local Centra had a hankerings for some chocolate and there are people stocking up on bottled water and various food stuffs. Took me 15 minutes to pay for my extra large Dairy Milk bar but by god it's gonna taste good with a cup of tea now.

    Batten down the hatches!

Seriously though, this one's going to be rough. Not even Met Eireann has mentioned the risk of tornadoes...

Disappointing lack of coverage in the international media of our hurricane. I'll just have to wildly speculate until morning ireland is on in the morning.

Only in Ireland would we not take this seriously until now!

Thought the Irish media did a poor job actually delivering the message

When work rings and says work from home you know it's serious

My work (an SME) and my ex employer (a hospital) are closed tomorrow and I've heard Stryker closing tomorrow as well. UHL cancelled all elective surgery.

So, I'd be in contact with any employer to ask do I REALLY need to call in tomorrow.

You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Third item on CNN News and top of their webpage. Headline with NBC as well.

Where have you been all week? There has been an enormous amount of coverage since last Monday.

I was supposed to have an interview in Dublin for a civil service job. Living in a red alert area in the west, so just emailed saying I wouldnt be able to make it and looking to reschedule. I've been waiting for over a year for this interview.
    Bit gutted about it.
All PAS interviews and tests cancelled.

Just got the text I'm off tomorrow. How in God's name am I gonna buy a big bag of cans now?

I'm still undecided if I should be scared or excited about being in the direct path of an actual hurricane.

If you'll excuse emotion a tick, oh god help us with elderly relatives that do not follow the news and refuse to leave their routine. My partner is trying to convince his mother that she cannot be driving to work in Kerry at 11am tomorrow. The attitude of "ah, it will be grand" goes from ludicrous to terrifying when it's suddenly personal.

They probably did that on purpose. Waited till 10.00 to tell you when the offy was closed. Bunch off kill joys:pac:

All joking apart. Please check on elderly or venerable family or neighbours. See if they need help if power goes out and do not let them go out tomorrow. If they need their paper or food, see if you can get it for them before it hits your area.

All social welfare and Intreo offices/meetings cancelled as well.

What sort of damage are we looking at tomorrow? 70mph+ winds?
