More of a bad influence? Seriously? Think about all the music, films, TV shows, technology, literature etc that the us has contributed to the world. The amount of foreign aid that they pay yearly. You think the rest of the world would be better off without them?

Pretty much most of the advancements in space, energy, robotics, automotive, computers and entertainment come from the US.

Sure if you look at tabloid news and celebrity rags the place looks like hell, but so does everywhere under that light.

The human race would be no where near as advanced as it is today if the USA never existed.

It's not just technology, wealth and culture but the Americans have an endeavor, entrepreneurialism and "can do" spirit matched nowhere else in the world.

Hence they are the most powerful country in the world.

Anyone ever wonder how we would fare without our big crazy loudmouth mates in the good old US of A?
We'd be all speaking German, and wouldn't think anything of old people and anyone with autism being turned into ashes as part of the final solution?

Wouldnt it be great if these anti americans excercised their anti americaness instead of posting on the internet off a ipad or a pc or whatever.
Even better if they left and went to a country more inline with their views, obvious not on ryanair because it would be a bit hypocitical to use boeing aircraft. And they would have to avoid using a ford or gm made taxi to get to the airport. Pain in the ass really. They couldnt even make a fry before they left on a non stick pan.

Don't understand this "We'd all be speaking German". Sure the Germans were defeated and they don't all speak English or Russian:confused:

It is a popular claim as an alternative ending to WW2, had the Allies not defeated the Germans, the Nazis would have continued their takeover of Europe and as a result, we would all be speaking German.

What is not mentioned though, is that Russia played a very large part in defeating the Germans before the Allies ever moved in. The Russians lost over 8 million soldiers during WW2. By one calculation, for every single American soldier killed fighting the Germans, 80 Soviet soldiers died doing the same.... the Germans suffered 75% of their wartime losses fighting the Russians.

Also, the US sold strategic materials to the Nazis in 1941, in order to help them defeat the Russians. The Nazi's were funded by large American banks, and supported by American companies such as IBM and Standard Oil.

Probably not. America didn't end slavery. British anti-slavery organisations campaigned for the end of slavery long before the American civil war, and pressure from the British people forced the British government to commit naval assets to siezing slave ships operating within or near British territories.(although some of that would be greed for prize ships and sale of assets taken) Admittedly a large part of it was to eliminate the income made from slavery that nations in the M.East or African nations where the British wished to expand into next, but the point remains that the British actually did more to combat slavery than America. All America did was to remove a major market.

Only been three tragic losses to the world which is the Macedonian Empire, Roman Empire and the British Empire.

You really are a Grade A shyte stirrer. :D
Such archaic perception of capitalism, and business entities. Corporations and companies of these sizes are not 'American'. They're international constructs that go where the money and talent is. Being American is just marketing hype for funding.

All the major IT multinationals started in the US.
The US offers probably one of the best chances for startups in comparison to lots of other countries.

Most of the industries that have shaped our modern way of life are down to the US.
The entire computer industry has been a US invention, from the beginnings with companies like IBM, Bell Labs, Xerox, Intel, Motorola, Novell, Compaq, HP, right up to today with Microsoft, Dell and Apple.

Personal computers are down to Intel, IBM, Microsoft and Apple.

The internet's parent was the ARPANET military communications network.
Berners-Lee just took that and created the WWW.
And others put the fancy browser interface to it.

Apple revolutionised mobile technology and mobile communications with the iphone.

The likes of Boeing, McDonnell Douglas made aircraft that were capable of carrying more people over longer distances and helped revolutionise air travel.
The US's investment in the space race has had countless knock on affects that touch people in their everyday lives.

US medical companies have contributed massively to advances in medical technology.

And most of these advances in computers, aviation, medicine have been since 1945.

Go back further and the US gave the start and opportunity to innovators and inventors that gave the world the telephone, electric light bulb, the vacuum cleaner, refrigeration, combine harvester, the telegraph, induction motor, the zipper, air conditioning, crystal oscillator and a whole load of advances in weaponary.
The last one is not that surprising.

Now of course there is bad as well such as the Americanised media world we live in or their fast food outlets that dot the world.

I am not allowed discuss …

We would be living under a full blown socialist dictatorship. Even the British would have fallen to the evils of socialism.

It's sad that we are allowing socialism in through the backdoor. The only thing keeping Europe in check and the people dreaming of economic freedom is the Americans. The capitalist might of America is too big for European governments to go full on crazy and strip everybody of their wealth

    .

Thanks mainly to operation paperclip at the end of WW2.

These things would still have existed in some form without the USA as they never invented them in the first place.
