Which Xiaomi Phone ~€200

Hi guys.
As the title suggests - which Xiaomi phone would you guys recommend for in or around €200?
I want to buy one for somebody as a present and would appreciate any personal recommendations. I don't have any experience with Xiaomi phones myself but have heard good things about them.
I know it's hard to get a decent non-used phone for €200.

There are a lot of good options in this area, but what does the person value in a phone? Calling, social apps, battery life, screen size ... ?

Thanks for the reply. I would say the screen doesn't need to be larger than ~5 inch.
She would mainly use it for just general web browsing, taking photos, texting.
She obviously uses it for calls also but wouldn't be someone who is constantly on calls so that would be less of a consideration.

I have the redmi note 4 for ages and just bought another one. Great all rounder and the newer one supports band 20 and has the snapdragon. I run nova launcher on it and works a treat. Camera is not brilliant in low light, but i have a camera so i get over it. Just be careful where you get it. The first one had a vendor rom on it and took a bit to get rid of it.

I would second that, got mine from here and it has the international Rom on it

Yeah it has it all... except NFC.
If you use a LeapCard then you'll surely miss it.
If not then it may not matter.

The Redmi Note 4 was the one I had my eye on prior to posting so ye have confirmed my initial thoughts really.
One quick question - if you could get the Mi5 or Mi5s for close enough to the same price as the Redmi Note 4 - would you choose either of them over the Note 4?

If you put the budget aside, then I would pick the Mi5. Advantages are that it is stronger, lighter, better screen quality. Downside is mostly the battery life and that it doesn't support all bands, so outside of towns you might not get 4G but only 3G.

Xiaomi is good with android updates, so you will get the latest with them. What I don't know how it is with the ROM, if you get the international one, a Xiaomi one or if the trader pushes its on rom on it. Check that maybe first.

just to jump in on this - if i bought one of the below xiaomi phones. How do I get it to work in Ireland? Is there anything I need to do or will it work out of the box as if I had bought an android phone out of carphone warehouse.

Never bought at carphone warehouse, but it is simple, put the sim card in, turn it on, follow the setup, mostly language and time zone and you are done.
Which phone is the best, that's relative what is most important to you, battery, performance, stock android, price, weight ...

Xiaomi just released the MI A1. Its getting very favourable early rewiews

First Xiaomi phone to run stock android,decent specs has band 20 and is on your budget. Only downside its on presale in most places but should be widely available in a couple of weeks

I got it on GearBest on a pre-order.
I haven't checked the status of the order in the last day or two but I doubt it has shipped yet.
