Potterton Ultra DV80 Boiler

    Hello all,

I have a Potterton Ultra DV gas boiler where the pump stopped working recently - i had a plumber assess it and he said the fan needed to be replaced - he mentioned some safety mechanism where the pump cuts off if the fan stops working.

He had difficulty sourcing in Ireland for reasonable price (less than €250) - since then I have heard nothing from him and I am still without a working boiler. I was prepared to buy the part in UK where i sourced it (approx £150)and for him to fit it. After numerous texts , calls and emails I gave up contacting him

I have tried to get hold of a few plumbers since but none seem to be interested in looking at the job.

I am moving house in a few months so want to avoid paying 2.5k for a new boiler.

Does anyone think this fan replacement could be done by following an installation manual or should i keep trying to get hold of a plumber?

    Any advice appreciated

Some of the gas lads will be along to verify the following ...or correct it: You may not interfere with anything inside the cover of a gas boiler unless you are a registered gas installer. It is an offence to do so. Besides it needs to be setup properly afterwards or you could be producing carbon monoxide due to changes in combustion characteristics from the new fan.

I would advise getting on the RGII http://www.rgii.ie/ and keep ringing around until you find a solution.
