Exactly. Lot of proper c**ts posting on this thread. The woman was in the wrong, got exposed nationally and admitted as much. But the amount of gloating and delight in here when she's gone and ruined a day she's dreamt about most of her life (probably) is pretty sad.

She lied through her teeth on the national airwaves. There's only one c''t here from what I can see.

She could have asked instead of threatened.

I was at a wedding years ago during World Cup 94(?). Ireland were playing that day after the meal. The groom lobbied for a big screen to be put in the banquet hall so guests could watch the match and was shot down by his missus.

Cue the entire wedding decamping to the front bar to watch it, leaving only a few elderly guests, the bride and a few others there - maybe 20 out of 150 stayed in the wedding. Of course, once the crowd were parked in the lounge, it was impossible to move them all in and they stayed there for the night. Including the groom. The band played to an empty function room. He probably didn't get the ride that night but I'd say it was worth an unconsummated wedding night. She wanted no football at 'her' wedding, well she got what she wished for. If she had factored in the game, her wedding would have been talked about for years to come as a blast of a day out.

I was at a wedding that day, the bride conceded defeat and got the big screen in the ball room, but near the bar, dinner was mostly eaten standing up with a plate, the girls had dinner at the top table and there was rival singing between ole ole ole and Alice who the *** is Alice, one of the best weddings I have ever been to

Okay Ive read the thread and all the articles and I still dont get it, how did they make the leap to actually getting on Liveline? She sounded like she didnt want to do it, did the hotel arrange it?

Tbh I know she's in the wrong but if I was the owner of that hotel and I heard my manager humiliating a guest no matter how much of a muppet on national radio I mightn't be too happy...

Just listened to the clip. She had already called Liveline when she sent the email but "didn't want it to go to air." The manager did no humiliating at all. He was totally matter of fact and explained the situation as it was. I feel sorry for her but the only person in the wrong on that show was the bride.

the groom should do a legger, she sounds like a low class wagon, a bit of stress and her real personality came out

No she didn't. She admitted she was bluffing on the national airwaves.

She chanced her arm with the hotel, in a not very clever way, and got called on it. Hardly the end of the world and most people I know have chanced their arm similarly in one way or another.

Jesus, she was naive, cheeky and a bit stupid. Hardly a hanging offence.

    Okay. I concede.

    Satisfied?

Okay. But I wasn't the one trying to dupe the public.

    Or HER hotel.

Loads of high horses on this thread, imagine the cheek of someone not wanting to pay a hotel for guests that can't turn up.

Oh god morto for her listening to the clip. In fairness she doesn't sound that bad I'd say she just chanced her arm and then got caught royally.

Y'know, I can be a complete b1tch sometimes and my initial reaction to this thread was "what an utter b1tch" but honestly, I feel she never meant this to happen. She 100% went the wrong way about it but probably never meant it to get this far and wishes she could turn the clock back. I've read the whole of this thread and at this point I really feel sorry for her. I hope her day goes well. Life is short guys and everyone of us makes mistakes.

No one to blame but herself.
She acted the **** and got caught out ,ruined the whole experience with her behaviour.

Like many I initially thought this lady was a total chancer, losing €2000 because of 18 or whatever people not attending is still a bit of a stretch!, but having listened to the clip I feel very sorry for her. I think the whole situation just snowballed on her and she actually didn’t seem to want to take part in the Live Line segment.
Must also say the manager of the hotel came across as a very professional guy. Put the hotels position across very well and didn’t lose his sh1t when discussing the email (I would have!)
Really hope this hasn’t ruined the day itself and everything can be worked out.

The problem here is the email, like most people under 40, they send an email about everything important, when a phone call or in person was needed.

Reminds me of a post on here somewhere, guy working in retail, has one of these "customer always right," entitled people giving out about something that was complete their own fault, customer turns around and say, well I'll just have to pay Harvey a visit, guy looks confused, who?? Harvey Norman, your boss, I'm good friends with him, I might call over to his house.

Safe to say this incident won't be mentioned in jest during any of the speeches.

The best thing they could do is mention it, get it out of the way.

Get the priest to make a joke of it, everybody laughs, get the best man to make a joke out of it, everybody laughs again and gets on with the night.

Damn sure everybody is going to know of it and be thinking of it anyway, better to get it out there and laugh about it than to have it lingering in the background like a bad smell.

The "friends" that let them down obviously know the amount of last minute cancellations and don't seem to care, did they try and reschedule? Matches are rescheduled all the time for deaths, weather etc.

But at the end of the day the hotel is running a businessh and will be out money on this even without refunding. I suspect the brides issue is that the 16 not going will therefore not give presents which is usually money which would go tonwards the cost, why else would she be so deseperate to make up a story like that. If they were going and giving presents then there wouldn't be an issue.

Hotel was very generous in offering a change of date but that was never going to work. I agree they shouldn't refund but I'd hope they'd do something like a couple of bottles of champagne etc as a gesture. To me that would be exceeding expectations which is what good hotel service is all about.

100%. Laugh at the situation and move on. It's not a life or death situation after all.

Its all about who you know!!....I spilled my bag of sweets once and immediately demanded a replacement which the shop wouldn't do even though I threatened to contact my friend Harry. The kind Mr bowe got me my new bag of sweets straight away ;-)

Wouldn't be surprised to see a little gesture from the hotel tomorrow. A €500 voucher will generate far more than that in publicity.

She was very stupid but hardly the demon some have made her out to be.

On listening to the audio no, she doesn't seem that bad. Everyone gets stupid sometimes. She chanced her arm and got badly shot back. In the end I hope her wedding goes ok. I assume the hotel will remain professional and the manager sounds dead on.

I still hate weddings. Irish (both north and south) weddings this last 10years have imo been taking the piss. Getting ideas above their station.
