I was grumbling about High Noon when it started but must admit I still listened most days.

Dr Ciara's personality is really coming to the fore now that she seems to have grabbed the hot seat for herself..
Maybe I'm being over sensitive, but there's a smugness there that I can't abide, which wasn't so prominent when she was filling in.

I've switched back to Spotify 12-2

She is absolutely brutal and always has been. Completely false and unlikeable. She will end up with listenership figures like Healy had.

Sarah McInerney irritated me a bit and I didn't agree with a lot of what she said but at least she came across as genuine and didn't take herself too seriously most of the time.

If she brushed up on her presentation she could be pretty good and more deserving of this spot if they are going to fill it with a female they employ.

    Agree, Ivan is dire.
I used to like Norah what's her name in the mornings. Pity she had to vacate her seat for ivans return.

really? thought she was brutal. the pathetic childish innuendo going on when she started going out with that fireman was awful radio

High Noon with Ciara Kelly is utterly boring, bland radio that goes in ear and out the other. I may not have agreed with the majority of what Hook used to come out with but at least he made for entertaining radio. I'll be changing stations from tomorrow during this slot.

Listened back to a show last night so I could form an opinion on Ciara and lost interest after less then 10 minutes.

Get used to the blandness cause it's all the thought police will allow these days.

She sounds like she is becoming a bit like Ray darcy. She was immediately corrected by the climate change guy and didnt take well to the correction. Then the obesity woman should have been easy but she talked down to her rather than taking her on. The obesity woman seemed like a crap churner but she knew her terms and laws properly. Ciara was too emotive.

Moncrieff would have been miles better at either interview

I'll be honest, I never really listened to George between 12-1 even though the station would be on in the background. His voice sounds the exact same as my rumbling stomach at that time of the day so I easily get them confused.

I guess the point is that there are a lot of minority groups that are portrayed in the media as being "victims" or being oppressed, when it really is just lobbying for preferential treatment, and should be treated like any other lobby group. My argument is singularly targeted at the media in this, and I generally take people as I meet them in real life.

To bring it back to Hook, my concern is that with Hook now gone, who will be prepared to stand up to Dil with her Gender Neutral nonsense.. Everybody sitting at home listening to it will be saying "That's a load of nonsense". But because there will be no presenter or reporter prepared to tackle her (because she is from a minority group and they will risk a liberal mob attacking them), then she will be allowed to say what she likes as if it were the truth.

Seriously, she has a one hour show tucked away in the evening schedule on a Saturday when no one listens to the radio. You're really exaggerating her influence here.
Didnt it used to be long?  they cut it by at least an hour.

God only knows. I never heard more than five minutes of it. I think you'd end up like the Nazis at the end of the Raiders of the Lost Ark if you tried to sit through 2 hours of that…

I'm equally offended by everybody on the left.

The perpetually offended, isn't there a newly coined term for that?

Jesus really? The woman considered herself an expert in anything once she had read a headline about it.

A more opinionated and uninformed person i do not think exists and im including hook in that

I have said this before on other posts. It is all over social media , face book and god forbid those bloody youtube comment sections. There are terms that get used to try and shut down conversations. I am all for shutting idiots up, but through successful argument and rebuttal. I am all for people being straight talkers and calling a spade a spade But, when they get used , they are often used when they are utterly inappropriate and have zero basis

I know sites are all about having a laugh, and such, but, words are suppose to mean something

I absolutely and completely agree that this is not a left v right wing issue. I fully acknowledge that BOTH the left and the right are horrendous with the amount of rubbish that they spew , they are just as bad as the other.

But I wish a universal charter on this site could be written up by the moderator that do one simple thing. Provide a full definition of the regular terms used and failure to use the terms in a correct manner , depending on the seriousness of the allegation , would meet with warning, bans, demands to retract statements etc.

You really see in in discussions about Immigration. People ought to be expected to cite their sources as well, you will be surprised how easy it is to find credible sources online, for free.

People should be allowed to go through a discussion without their eyes burning reading complete and utter ill informed tosh. (both sides do it)A lot of assumptions get made by posters who simply either (a) Did not read what was said (b) Did not understand what was said or (c) Is limited in knowledge about the topic, but refuse to accept that. It is not a case of being a cry baby, but a case of lies and stupidity should not be tolerated.

Mods are selective on what they do, and they can't catch everything. But, at least the rest of the readers can expose the spoofers, chancers, etc

    Terms like

"racist", "racism" " Bigot" or my favorite , "stupid bigot" (as if any bigots were clever?) " Xenophobia" "Xenophobic" , "liberal", "left wing" , "right wing", "snow flake", "homophobic",

These are just a few terms that get thrown about by people ,and they are losing all meaning

Truth is I'd like to hear George have a rant about bleedin selfies.

We would be clapping like seals , shouting testify.

How I would like to punch the person who thought cameras in phones were a great Idea. (to be fair they were, so I will let him / her bitch slap me back, but only a bitch slap, or at least one of them back hander slaps you see in British gangster Films)

Worse is the selfies in a gym. I understand the need to photograph progress but really? While working out? Sure the real change of the body is suppose to happen while asleep , hours later?

And the duck faces? Hey, fine, its a girl thing, but what the hell are men doing if for? Grow a back bone damn it

I did not know whether to laugh or cry the last time I was at Tescos. Full blown selfie sessions near funny looking fruit. God all mighty. And that stupid peace sign. Unless you look like Winston Churchill and like cigars and hats, don't do it!

DOCTOR Ciara Kelly is indeed morphing into Darcy.

She is an expert on everything, obviously she isn't a doctor of medicine anymore, she has a doctorate in everything.

All joking aside, I would regularly listen to George but always turned it off when she came on. Haven't switched it back on since she took over and it will remain like that.

Doesn't she have any patients to look after or something??

I understand what you're saying, and I agree about Dil not having a huge amount of influence. But I was simply citing an example of where George asks the questions that nobody else in Newstalk would be prepared to ask. Whether that be Dil, Colm O'Gorman, Fergus Finlay etc etc.. George will ask the questions that need to be asked, never mind how "impolite" it is. Name one other presenter who would have been prepared to question these people... Political Editor Chris O'Donoghue?

And I think the person above was right, I think Dil's show used to be two hours, and I think it was cut to one hour.

Cut to one hour? I'd say her four listeners were devastated by that.

Politicians used to go on The Right Hook because they knew it would be an easy ride. George's bluster was so easy to counter. Then he stopped having them on. He was great at unopposed ranting but if he ever got someone on to discuss those issues he would invariably be half agreeing with other person by the end of the interview. George could be entertaining at times but he no current affairs heavyweight. The people that really need to held to account are those who are actually in power, not peripheral figures like "Dil, Colm O'Gorman, Fergus Finlay etc etc".

She ticks a couple of quota boxes (she’s lesbian, a foreign national and a woman) .... if you want to subject yourself to punishment - YouTube her comedy show ( I apologize in advance)

Me 25 seconds ago 'Challenge accepted'

    Me now: "Jesus"

I'm afraid to even look, in case YouTube starts recommending more videos of that ilk to me.

How do you know 95% of posters are male and if so why does it matter?

Because there is more defence of Hookie on the thread. The women have spoken and moved on, the thread is done. Hookie is gone, payday looms for him, never to hear him on radio will actually be a good thing.
He is old school, done and hopefully dusted.

And who do u consider to be a good writer in this country?

The duck faces are amazing. What's it for? Why go to the trouble of taking a photo of yourself only to pull a face that doesn't correspond to any emotion, thereby giving a picture that is not representative of what you would look like in any given set of circumstances? Why?

    And it looks f*ckin stupid.

I very, very rarely catch any of Global Village, but what I have heard is not as bad as The Hook Health Check with Dr Kelly.

Dear listener, if you think there is something wrong with you, DO go to a doctor who can actually see you, ask about your symptoms and prescribe some medicine if required. DON'T text the f*ckin radio while I'm having my f*ckin lunch.
