Sorry, I thought that was a Netflix exclusive for some reason.

They put "Netflix Exclusive" on shows that they have exclusive rights to air in certain places. Riverdale, for example, is a CW show, Netflix have the rights to it everywhere outside the US.

For drama series I would recommend Shameless US and Dexter

For comedy I'd recommend Rick and Morty and Brooklyn nine-nine

For movie I'd recomend The Young Offenders

Yeah, it's an Adult Swim production. But, Christ, it's been amazing.
The recent episode on the Citadel was so good

That episode was absolutely fantastic. It's hands down, the best season so far for me.

Goddamn, the new American Horror Story is great.

I stopped watching a couple of episodes into Hotel, haven't watched since. Might try this so.

I adored the first 2 series of AHS but it fell off tbe rails spectacularly, season 6 didn't help it at all. A few good episodes at the start of the series but overall, very poor.

It's gone right back to the horror-inflected episodes of the first season. For Roanoke, they've adopted a kind of - documentary style feeling. I'm on about episode 7 at the moment.

Cult, the newest season, is airing at the moment so hopefully by the time I'm finished this one, I'll have a few episode built up.

Hotel was just ... awful ... and a misstep. Especially because Coven was better than it should have been.

I'm going to argue the toss on AHS - seasons 1 & 2 were great fun, seasons 4 & 5 were pretty good but not as good as 1 & 2, and I never got to the end of Coven (3) because it went to guff about halfway through. Will see how Roanoke Nightmare (6) holds up - opening episode was pretty good but I remain unconvinced by the documentary approach...

I've never seen a single episode of AHS. Is each season a standalone story?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 922 ✭✭✭crustybla

Yes, each season is a different scenario. It has some of the same actors playing different characters. I enjoyed season 1, Murder House, a bit scary and a bit fun. I also enjoyed Asylum, season 2. Season 3, Coven was ok. Season 4, Freak Show, I'm undecided. Meh I think.

Season 5, Hotel. I watched the first two episodes but couldn't get into it. It's certainly different than other shows I've watched.
At the moment I'm enjoying Power season 3 and Narcos season 3. I haven't watched the latest season of House of Cards, haven't heard great things about it.

Happy Valley 2 - another cracking series. Sarah Lancashire has got to be one of the greatest actors ever!

Finished it last night. It fell apart in the last 3 episodes.
The way it jumped constantly between everything was just .. annoying.

I really hope they just jump right into his story instead of having any origin; we already covered it in the second season of Daredevil.

Watched 'Jerry Before Seinfeld' last night. Was looking forward to it being a big fan of the show.
Worth a watch but average enough tbh.
There's bit of him talking about his childhood and how he got into comedy but it's mostly him retelling old jokes. If you watched the sitcom, you'll be familiar with a lot of the jokes.
There were a few I hadn't heard and got a laugh from.

With regards to Jerry Seinfield - didn't Netflix spend $100m some of his content alone (two specials and the rights to Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee), which is how much HBO invested in the entirety of Game of Thrones Season 6?

I thought it was the weekend of Veteran's Day (November the 11th)? It would make sense for the character. There was some cryptic tweet that led people to believe it anyway.

Ya I remember reading that. Crazy money. They were robbed!
He did turn down $5M per episode from NBC to continue Seinfeld, which would have been unheard of in the 90s. So a big offer from Netflix was probably needed to get him to sign.
Hopefully the next special he does will be better than this one.

They have a huge number of subscribers but isnt the 100m they paid Seinfeld more than half their 2016 profit?

They seem to have paid ridiculous fees to a few people over the last few months.
