When Julia came on I said make a name for yourself, and boy did she do that!

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,551 ✭✭✭SeaFields

That was a score of the highest quality to win. Cracking way to win an all Ireland. Well done girls.

She got the winner score but Gemma O Connor scored a mighty point.

Aislings inspiriring catch....Gemmas inspiring score......Julias golden score..... Reena winning her 18th.....beating the Cats like that.....top of the pile on the honours list......what a day for our ladies....absolutely thrilled for them, totally deserving of the accolades!

Congratulations, 3 AI's in 4 years is a fantastic achievement!

Devastated for our ladies though. They put their heart and soul into it and to lose it with the last puck must be a very sickening way to lose a match

I thought Cork had better players but KK were very well drilled in their jobs. They nearly made it but unfortunately for them the one slip up at the end led to our winning point.

KK should really have cleared that and it would have been a draw. But still Cork still have to put the points over and Gemmas equaliser and Julia's winner were top class. Julia barely had room to swing her hurley(or hurl depending on where you are from!)

Aisling Thompson was fantastic. Works so hard and always seems to have time as she looks so cool under pressure

It must be Very tough...and to top it off it lashes down right on the full time whistle.

Setting out with such a defensive system while playing with the strong wind was a wrong decision.

What a game - what a point by Gemma to equalise and by Julia to win it. Had my English housemate watching it, during Rena's speech she was like, I haven't a clue what she is saying and then I had to explain that she was speaking in Irish!

One or two Cork players who possibly should have been taken off earlier than they were - delighted to see a number of girls I coached when they were under 13 feature in both games.

Absolutely delighted for Rena to be the first person ever to captain their county to camogie and football All Ireland titles - fantastic role model for any sports person. I really hope there is a decent crowd out tomorrow night to welcome both teams home.

I missed the final 10 seconds of the game, RTE player/laptop froze so by the time I managed to refresh it Rena was about to lift the cup - little bit of an anti climax there!

Great result, delighted for out cork ladies...though Eimear o'sullivan had a great game, got hooked a few times but put in a great shift

Player of the match...Orla Cronin, 3 points from play and a very deserving winner!!

Aoife Murray in goal ..... Rena Buckley......full back....Aisling Thompson midfield.....Orla Cronin centre foward.....Orla Cotter half foward......Amy O'Connor corner foward on the Camogie team of the year. Hard not to see Gemma there but Dalton had a super year aswell.

Camogie player of the year.....Rena !!

Delighted the difference in standards of the refereing was pointed out. The whistle happy lady in the intermediate final was Way too strict and not once did she allow an advantage in comparison the senior game flowed.

Quick question folks - I've got visitors coming from out foreign in a couple of weeks and they're keen to see a bit of hurling. Any chance there'll be a senior or intermediate semi on Saturday October 7?

Looking to plan other activities around it and they're gone Sunday afternoon. I don't see much in the way of fixture dates on the various websites so I'm assuming fixtures are pretty fluid to allow for replays etc.

As you say fixtures are fluid

Senior semi finals in both codes the last few years are usually on a Sunday

You have a good chance of PIHC or IHC semi finals being on a Saturday

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,034 ✭✭✭KrustyUCC

Won't be the PIHC semi finals anyway

Páirc Uí Rinn will host the two very attractive PIHC semi-finals next Saturday night with Cloyne taking on Mallow at 5.30pm and Kanturk against Ballinhassig at 7.15pm

From the cork GAA website - so there is a chance semi finals could by on that weekend but most likely they'll be the Sunday.

very hard replace once in a generation players but with our continued underage success we wont be too far away the next few years

I wouldn't be confident that the best players will be brought forward .team selection very prone to favouritism or corruption at all levels in cork lgfa something I don't see changing any time soon. the no.1 obstacle to success in my opinion

Any word on injury to Donal Og tonight in Cloyne game?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,038 ✭✭✭zetecescort

Didnt hear about Donal Og but heard that Brian Turnbull did his cruciate. Horrible way to finish a great year for him and hopefully he makes a full recovery

Colleges shouldn't be allowed in our SHC under current rules.  Several players playing with UCC last night have played SHC in their own county already this year.  Why should you be allowed play SHC in two counties just because you attend UCC or CIT.
A rule change required at the very least.

I see your point but it could also be said that it breeds competition & improves the overall quality of the championship. Ultimately you want the club game strengthened but putting players up against the best is a way of upping standards

    FINAL:
    Kanturk v Mallow

Well I didn't exactly win a gold star with predictions!!! two of my tips for titles are out... Mallow Kanturk should be decent Prem Int final - both with good wins at weekend.

Be interesting to see how Cloyne going out of the hurling will strengthen Imokilly in the Senior...

    For the senior football.

    Valley
    Nemo.

Can't see my own club challenging Carbery Rangers, we've have a brutal league and the win over Carbery (division) should be taken into context as they were beaten by Kiskeam afterwards. Lots of new young players brought into the team as the older lads retired. A year or two too soon id say

Couldn't agree more, its farcical to be honest. And I actually couldnt believe it when I heard that a Senior Club Championship match in Tipp was brought forward to allow a player line out in both games, the mind boggles.

A few years ago UCC were playing Dr. Crokes in a Munster football, and Johnny Buckley & Heaney after playing all through the cork championship with UCC, they jumped ship to Dr. Crokes for the final.

UCC have an obscenely talented team. Mary I will obviously have a fine Fitz team again this year but I'd be all over UCC to dent them the three in a row.
