Brilliant Dil is off the air can she continue her boycott permanitly please?

If having George Hook on the air is the price to pay for getting Dil off the air then it's a price I think it's worth paying, twice over if needs be. Give him another slot, I don't listen anyway, but that woman's odious agendas shouldn't be anywhere near mainstream radio. Hopefully she goes to AM or DAB.

Wow ! Super bonus ! No Dil

I know it's brilliant , her anti-irish sentiment on most program is sickening.

Careful now, that statement is a magnet for the type of innuendo Dil would take offense to.

    Glazers Out!

Dil gone as well... Well this is the gift that keeps on giving. If this keeps up Newstalk might actually have a schedule that people want to listen to it by the end of next week.

Dill the wagon won't present her show on Saturday in protest at hook still being on the air.

Well done George. Getting dill and the alphabet soup parties off the air on newstalk in one week is quite the achievement

Who cares if she won't present this weekend , I doubt anyone listens to her show anyway.Im sure her weekend slot is just a whingefest. I have only heard her as a guest on old right hook, where George gave her a platform and l felt she did was play victim card and was chief spokeswoman for the perpetually offended. This bullying of George Hook is getting ridiculas now, wouldn't be accepted in any other workplace. I hope he doesn't throw in the towel and give in to the bullies

what a sanctimonious ***** maybe we should ask RTE why our licence fee is paying his over inflated wages

The funny thing is how they are now openly attacking newstalk and nearly going as far as the station condones rape.

IF I was DOB I wouldn't be giving in and allowing the radical left ruin my station .

George is still on air but the heat is on.

First time posting. I think the way George Hook is being treated is absolutely ridiculous but not surprising. Yeah he made an huge error in what he was trying to say and he should've had more cop on, but the witch hunt after him and to remove him from his job is unfair. Challenge the opinion and move on.

I'll be absolutely sickened if management give into this bullying. The whole thing is media driven. The impression you get from every article and radio discussion is that the nation is outraged. This is a complete misrepresentation of the general public's actual opinion on the matter.

See what RTE did by bringing on Quinn with Coppinger. It is obvious that in certain circles (RTE, IT) Quinn is portrayed as far right, (mainly because he speaks up for the RC Church).

It was a subtle (not so subtle) attempt to equate opponents of the witch hunt against Hook with being right wing.

It is media manipulation of opinion to their own ends. There are many others they could have brought on who did not have the same reputation thrust on to them by the media.

Why are you ashamed of being right-wing?

Sorry for the cliche but I will be turning the dial off newstalk if George is sacked

Well on the news they said up to 20 members of the stations own workers have also signed a letter asking for Hook to be taken off the air.

I thought a lot of Niamh Ní Dhomhnaill today.

Ray D'arcy put her on the spot by asking her if George should be sacked and to be fair to her, as a rape survivor/victim she could have joined the witch hunt but she didn't.

Niamh was very measured and fair, she replied by saying she didn't have an opinion on the matter.

I think it will start with newstalk and move to other stations if allowed to influence station policy at all. Coppinger was having a subtle go at RTE earlier today it was only that she was being interviewed by them that she held back.

Apparently meritocracy is toxic masculinity and its unfair to say that no women chair newstalk because most of their current presenting stock cant bring in the audiences.

If this keeps up Newstalk might actually have a schedule that people want to listen to it by the end of next week.

Maybe this is all part of their plan, and they're on the verge of announcing huge sponsorship deals with manufacturers of gout medication, Viagra and denture adhesive.

    Tesco pulls advertising
“Our advertising package includes spots during a variety of shows distributed across the station,” a spokesperson for the retailer said.

“We confirm that we have restricted the airing of our adverts around this particular show in the short term, although we keep this under review.”

This is the same tesco that apologies to an LGBT enforcer in the UK police force because they had a sign up in one of their stores that said Female hygiene products.

This is a J'accuse situation. I hate the fact that it is about Hook. Don't like him most of the time. Especially since he went to lunchtime.
Despite that he has unwillingly become an undeserved symbol of media freedom.
At this moment it appears he has ridden the wave.

If he were to get fired what signal would it send to the (liberal) fascists?
Push further and harder and you will clear the decks of alternative opinions.
Then we live in a wonderland that goes where? What is the next issue? And the one after that?

Maybe Tesco's priority should be publishing a proper set of accounts instead of jumping on the liberal bandwagon.

I'm sure their staff could tell you a lot about their high moral standards.

Maybe so, Ray. The last schedule that they gave us certainly looked like they were trying to burn the station to the ground.

While George is never one for tact, you can't say that he was wrong in his premis.

Going to a strangers room the first time you meet them is nothing but stupid.
Yes, let's not blame the victim of rape (or any crime) but her actions put her in a dangerous position for which she needs to take responsibility.

Dill is gone...that's so SAD ( said in Fr Ted sarcastic tone)
I'll miss George if he goes, a ton of common sense is a world that is pc mad.

George Hook said George Hook was wrong. People need to accept his apology and move on. This is doing George further damage. By constant reinterpreting of his words, the whole shebang is being dragged out. No wonder more sponsors are getting nervous
