Tiny House on wheels build/community in Ireland

    I want to build a tiny house from recycled sustainable materials. Like the beautiful ones in the USA and New Zealand. I want to learn how to construct my own with a tiny house designer.

    Is anyone out there already doing it in Ireland? Not wooden tacky boxes...like the tiny houses on You Tube channel and on the DIY network. I would love to see an existing 1 in Ireland

    One major thing you will have to look into is the weight for towing, over in america a Ford F350 can tow up to 31200 lbs, over here a you are limited to 7000 pounds (by licenses and by truck manufacture (unless you get a lorry but that opens a whole new can of worms)

    So is there anyone in Ireland already doing this? I would like to talk to likeminded people who have or want to build one. I haven't the first idea how to start. But I want to start somewhere... are there any decent tiny house designers working in Ireland? I saw one I wont mention and a kids playhouse would be more functional and comfortable.

    Hi Barbs147,

    My partner and I are keen to build a tiny house in Ireland also!
    We're mostly inspired by youtubers at the moment.
    The biggest stumbling blocks I envisage are: 1) the high cost of land in Ireland, 2) restrictive planning laws.
    I'd love to exchange ideas with you and anyone else who is interested in starting a tiny house movement in Ireland!

    There is a tiny house movement (mini movement!) in Ireland. I used to see them on FB. Can't remember what they are called now. I'll have a look and see if I can find them.

    Here ya go! They haven't been active on FB for quite a while, but at least you know someone is out there, thinking on the same lines! I haven't enough posts to add a link, but they are called Teach Nollaig, if you do a search for them on Facebook.
