Goodell is out on the field now getting booed, nobody in the stadium conveniently.

I presume he not staying for the game and is straight out of there.

Cooks is the most talented WR that Brady's had since Moss and I'm excited to see how they hook up tonight & for the season.

Just imagine..... Gronk is allowed use the ball as a prop now. He can rehearse his celebrations.

It's going to be an entertaining season :)

Oh man, here we go. Football is back, Patriots football is back. I am so looking forward to this. I'm finding it hard to believe that it's two years since I was at opening night in Gillette, it doesn't feel that long ago.

We are celebrating the greatest comeback in Superbowl history tonight and celebrating that we beat the clown so bad. We are celebrating the greatest QB in history who was so badly wronged but didn't let it get to him and came back bigger and strong than ever before. I'm loving all the clown t-shirts, they are awesome.

Bit rich having him unveil the banner of the Super Bowl he left during.

    The Departed indeed.

You mean Mark 'leave the game early' Wahlberg. The man who left the Super bowl because he thought we were beat.

Offensive line is killing it so far.. Tom Sat in for 8 seconds on that holding call play. They're opening great gaps for gillislee. Offense looks dialled in so far

Have great fear of what Drew Brees is going to do to that defence in the Super Dome

Its only one game. Its still the Superbowl winners plus better offensive and defensive options. Its a blessing to get a reality check this early. 16 and 0 was fantasy land.

I didn't care about 16:0. Yeah it'd be nice, but we've done that. Lost two games last year, and it was a better ending than 2007.

Offense was poor for long spells last night, but still scored 27pts. The defense was nothing short of a disaster. 42pts, and they took knees at our 30yrd to end the game.

I can see the offense get it together. The defense had an easy schedule last year, and it may take some time to improve.

Let's start with the most obvious thing. Tom Brady was awful last night, it happens once every couple of years. He was inna

The OL did very well, Brady was very well protected for most of the night. This leads me to question what was going on with our receivers because Brady had lots of time on many occasions last night where he couldn't find an open man. While the Chiefs have a good D you expect when a QB gets over four seconds that he will find somebody so there had to be something wrong with the routesn being run.

The two best players on offense outside the OL were Gillislee and Cooks.

I'm thinking there might be a bit of a Superbowl hangover about that performance last night.

The D is a much bigger issue though. Personally if I were involved with that team I'd be calling Ninko and begging him to come back for one more year. I really hope Ayers can come back in and rediscover the form he showed for us a couple of seasons back.

We were beaten up at the line and we were beaten deep too which is not good. We didn't expect to get beaten deep so easily but we were expecting the lack of a pass rush to be a problem and it's very evident after last night.

As poor as we were on offense we still put up 27 points which should be enough to win.

Receivers were well covered all night and Chiefs consistently only rushed 3, their No.1 target was to limit the pass as much as possible - I didn't think Brady played too bad - not a sterling night but the guy is 40 - its essential at this stage that our running game is solid and it looks ok.

Obviously the issues are on the other side of the football.

Taking the overs in the Superdome - could be a 90 pt game at this rate.

I don't think he was awful at all. Not in top form, but I wouldn't go as far as awful. What I saw last night was a lack of trust, Brady will always deliberately throw it high if he's in doubt and he did it a lot last night. We saw it back in 2013 when he lost 6 of his WR's before the start of the season. Trust in his WR's will change all that. Cooks only had his first competitive game last night and Dorsett is only in the door. Losing Minitron, Mitchell and Gronk clearly not being at 100% all played a part.

Afaic, Reid out coached Bill. Rather than bringing pressure he put extra cover on Brady's targets. At one point in the 4th quarter, Brady had over 8 seconds trying to find a target and The Chiefs had everybody covered. There were also two really bad Dpi's on us that weren't called last night at key moments that could have changed things. Not going for at least one QB sneak on 4th down was also crazy imo. But the defense giving up two +75 yard TD's cost us the game. Brady was far from great, but I wouldn't put him at awful. I put last night performance on the whole team, but especially the coaching staff.

hightower with a MCL Sprain. Good thing we have extra time between now and the Saints but he could miss Week 2.

The Chiefs had only one drive of +90 yards last season. They had three +90 yard drives last night, which sums up how bad the defense was. Looking at the game again, man did our O line disappear during the 4th quarter. On a positive note, three of our Super Bowl wins came in seasons where we lost our opening game.

Did only seemed to rush three at the start. Did they rush more in the 4th (was sleepy enough at the time)?

I will be in Boston for the Pats vs Texans match and was wondering had any recommendations on getting tickets etc

I am already looking at tickpick, stubhub etc but was wondering had anyone suggestions about when to buy (ie wait closer to the time or just take the punt now ($350! roughly at the moment))

    Go Pats!

The earlier you buy the better. After losing the first game they are probably cheaper than normal right now. If they lie another game soon then they will probably get cheaper.

If you're only looking for one leave it as late as possible. Tickets always reduce the week of the game.

Two nights before is generally the sweet spot.

Tickets slowly drop in price in the week leading up to the game if there are a lot of tickets available on the ticket tout websites as people realize with some many tickets on the market, they're going to need to undercut the other sellers to make sure they sell their tickets. The price hits its lowest usually two nights before the game and start to increase again the night before the game. I'm not 100% sure why but I'm guessing people start taking tickets off the market the night before because they have either decided to go to the game themselves or handed off to friends or sold them to ticket touts.

The Texans game will probably follow this pattern as nobody is realistically going to pay $300 for nose bleeds to see an average NFL team play the Patriots so there will be tons of tickets available the week of the game.

I would agree as late as possible. I do it every season to fill the games my buddy cant give me tickets for. As Hazy says 2 days before the game is best guys trying to offload tickets cheaper so they dont get stuck with them.

JaMarcusHustle mentioned it in Fantasy thread that Josh Gordon is free to play again. Could be a good fit for the Pats if we can get him to stay clean and up to scratch. Low risk potential high reward type deal.
