I think I was confusing this with 'Under the Lights' which is a discussion between Max Kellerman and the fighters. That should available any time now.

I'm picking Canelo purely on the basis that this fight wouldn't have happened unless his team and promoter think GGG is on the decline.

I have watched a fair heap on all this. Made loads of points on ifs and buts..

After all I have seen up till now it comes down to this..

Canelo can't get GGGs respect and hurt/discourage him when he lands, he loses via late stoppage or points..

Canelo can hurt/discourage/stop GGG in his tracks and force him to think about his defence, Canelo wins on points.

I agree with this 100% its all about can canelo stop ggg coming forward. GGG age and lacklustre performance last time out are the only things stopping me from thinking ggg has this.

How do we go about comparing recent opposition and how it might factor? This is how I'm deciding. One guy struggled (not really) and beat a legit MW and the other guy beat a LH weight who killed himself to make weight.......

Me thinks it's a good/bad thing that the IBF scrapped the 2nd day weigh-in.

PPV for everyone apart from Boxnation subscribers. Former subscribers now getting Boxnation on BT will have to buy this fight.

Maybe mods can sticky this link to the thread title?

    Save a lot of questioning....

I have come down more on the side of GGG as the fight gets closer, I think its going to be a great fight and I can see ways to victory for both men. The styles are made for each other to give us a classic, my pick is GGG but I am happy once we get the contest I am expecting.

Two years ago, maybe even one I would be even more confident in a late stoppage for GGG but Canelo is great and still improving and GGG is great but now aging. This makes it closer in my eyes, this makes it a more exciting prospect in my eyes.

I think that GGG has had this fight in his mind for 2 years now and will be fully focused, will be the best GGG he can be on fight night. I am not paying much attention to his last two fights because of that.

Can barely decide who I want to win this one let alone who wins. Its a legacy fight for GGG really. If he loses this, everything he has done up until now will count for nothing to many. They will say he lost to the first real threat he faced. Whereas a convincing win will prove to many that he is the real deal. Canelo is still young and can come again providing he doesn't get beat up.

Think I went for a GGG KO when this poll first went up but coming around to the Canelo side who keeps on improving and appears to have the tools to beat 3G. Gun to head I'll stick with my Golovkin stoppage prediction hopefully in a FOTY but wouldn't put a penny on it.

What evidence do we have that Canelo is improving?

He went from fighting decent fighters like Mayweather and Lara to fighting completely overmatched opponents like Liam Smith, Khan and Chavez. Golden Boy have you fooled if you think he's a changed fighter all of a sudden. He looks better because he's taken a massive drop in level of opposition.

Can only judge him on what I can see and the opponents he's fought. Nobody said he's changed fighter either but it's hardly unrealistic to say he has improved in the 4 years since he fought Mayweather. Experience alone of those extra fights and camps mean he has more of a chance in this fight now than he did 4-5 years ago. Nothing to do with Goldenboy fooling me. They haven't really fooled me enough if I'm still going for a GGG stoppage.

You obviously think this is a mismatch then no? If Canelo hasn't improved in the last 5 years then he has no hope.

I see your argument and it is valid. The counter argument is who has GGG ever fought who is elite ?

Mayweather has picked Canelo to stop GGG, by going to the body and taking him out.

Mayweather going for the result that would increase his legacy even more... :D

Not a mismatch but feel quite confident picking GGG at the same time. Two really good fighters but I think Canelo's weaknesses are going to show on fight night.

I really don't see what Canelo is going to bring from his Liam Smith camp into this fight. He might be better but we haven't seen it tbh. There's loads of fighters who don't really show much sign of improvement. Canelo could be one of them. I don't know until I see it with my own eyes.

Would you rather have fought one elite fighter in your career and get completely embarrassed or fight zero elite fighters though?

For the record I think Jacobs beats Canelo so I already think GGG has fought tougher opposition.

I'd fancy Canelo over Jacobs. Canelo has kahoonas, Jacobs doesn't, at least not to the level that would have me picking him. I can see why some would pick Jacobs. He's a SMW fighting at MW.

The level of improvement to be queried is valid I suppose, even though he is still young in boxing terms he has been a professional about 12 years hasn't he?

I do think he is getting stronger and faster, though his footwork is still a weakness.

Jacobs seems to have become very highly rated and even over rated since the Golovkin fight simply because he lasted the 12 and had a lot of joy....but I think everyone figured before the fight Golovkin seems would give him a battering ala Pirog. Jacobs is a fine fighter with good power and good heart and his story is remarkable but I wouldn't consider him a measuring post at all...he has one decent victory to his name, a horrific ref stoppage against Quillin although Quillin was buzzed.

What does elite mean? Is Brook an elite Welter, is Jacobs an elite MW?

Brook not a chance . Jacobs I'd say is the 3rd best in his division so I'd say no too .

Maybe I'm just harsh on GGG cos I feel his should of moved up to fight Ward when he had the chance instead of calling out Mayweather Manny and Canelo (when he was still growing into a MW)

Not moving up to fight ward just showed that Genady is smart and knows his limitations, the cliché "there's weightclasses for a reason" is inherently true for that scenario.
GGG is a small middleweight and no one should ever have to move up for the sake of a payday especially if the only other dominant opponent in your weight class still hadn't agreed to a fight at the time.

Triple-G has also said from the beginning that he wants to unify middleweight.

He should only really be moving up the weight if there are no more meaningful fights in his own division or if he was struggling with the weight. Neither was the case. If we're going to be critical of jumping up a weightclass, Canelos move to 160 was long overdue. He practically invented his own weightclass.

    Drove me nuts also!

We'd know a bit more if Jacobs had scheduled a fight for himself. I've seen some say that he's gone on a 'Look how great I did against GGG' tour since..

There's not many fights out there for Jacobs really, Super Middle is a bit dead at the minute hopefully the Super Series brings a bit of life back into it and nobody at Middleweight would fancy there chances against a boiled down Jacobs he's kind of stuck in limbo.
He got the big fight but lost and has nowhere to go now

It's cool that some of the WBSS fights will be on ITV free to air. However, I expect to see a 'Programme not available in ROI' message when using Virgin Media.

Didn't know that any word on which ones? I was looking at heading to the Eubank Jr fight in Stuttgart but if it's free on TV I mightn't bother
