Florence or Sorrento

I'm thinking of going to Italy for a last minute week in September and had planned on staying in Viareggio about an hour and half from Florence. Would it be too much now to split the holiday up and spend 3 or 4 days in Sorrento?

Or am I trying to do too much and should I just choose between Viareggio or Sorrento and if so which one?

Also any recommendations for web sites to get a last minute deal?

been to sorrento a few times
usually stay in the train stop just before sorrento, its a 10 min walk to sorrento from there
excellent value on restaurants when you just stay outside sorrento
had a car,so toured all the amalfi coast
did they day drip to capri which was nice
train goes directly to pompeii, def worth a visit

I think it would be too much for a few days. There is a bit of a distance involved given one is north of pisa and the other is south of naples i think. There are nice places in both areas - you could travel up along the coast to liguria if you go north or there's lots to do along the amalfi coast like capri, etc

Maybe try Lucca or Siena which are closer to Florence and are nice to spend a few days. Tuscany has a lot of pretty places without trekking down to Naples.
