As a Galway man I said the same 3 minutes to go yesterday but nobody made a move. It is far more enjoyable to stay where you are and watch the team celebrate. The team can see each other. Safety is important. You need to consider some people like kids would not be safe. There would be no fireworks. The team also do a lap of honour. Going on experience stay in your seat and party to the music. The Dubs will be gone so I suppose if you were on the upper level you could go down to the lower.

Yea I think the staying off the field after the final is a great change, not that I've had opportunity to experience it or anything, but it does seem far better for the players.

Some old almanac said a mayo galway double was on the cards, that was a few years ago though lol.

Mayo are going to win. no ifs, no ands, no buts.

....maybe a sneaky bet for a replay!

No problem with that appointment, just hope Cillian hurries up on taking those frees.:)

Hopefully we'll have as nice a day weather wise as 2013 with a different result, although more inclement conditions might be an aid to our cause.

Bit of a damp squib but probably to be expected. I'm not holding my breath for the London podcast but a nice touch for the sponsors.

Not as concentrated in the last few years maybe but since late 1980s pattern has been strikingly similar...

Darragh Sé trying to get us to peak our heads above the long grass.

"They were underdogs against Kerry for the semi-final and then, even though they were by far the better team in the drawn game, they were still 2/1 outsiders in the replay. And again, all the talk since they beat Kerry out the gate is that Eamonn Fitzmaurice has no players at all down in Kerry. Nothing to do with Mayo being a superior team."

"They’re 3/1 for the final against a team who only beat them by a point after a replay last year. Tyrone were only 5/2 for the semi-final – that’s how little credit Mayo get."

3/1 for an All-Ireland Final are outrageous odds. It would convey a David Vs Goliath encounter. Hope the bookies have gotten this very wrong.

The more hype for Dublin the better......

Sure its not worth our while turning up..;)

If Mayo were to win the final, it would be extra special, as it would go down as a mammoth achievement. Don’t get me wrong – it would have been lovely to win any of the previous All-Irelands they were in. But there would be just something more complete if they win on Sunday week – Started off being written off completely, stuttered past a few of the “weaker” counties (we were all waiting for the nail in the coffin, that would put the team out of its misery). The nail never came, and we hammered our noisy neighbours (always a special occasion). It was like suddenly the team were awoken into action and we got the Kerry hoodoo off our back, along with the notion that Mayo don’t win replays, and got revenge for the 2014 events. And then if we could beat Dublin, we would be beating what is becoming labelled the best team ever and halt their 3 in a row.

You could make it into a movie

They're supposed to be doing one about Donegal 2012. Ours might require a HBO mini-series!:P

Yeah, but knowing your luck, it will be on a new pay Sky subscription channel, that is really expensive. Or not broadcast in Ireland, so no one will get to see it. Or yer man in North Korea will press the button, 2 seconds before the ref blows the whistle, at 5.04 pm on Sunday week, when you are up by a point. Either one really...

Wooly "You're actually a Sligo man playing for Mayo....You must be half a sleep there Colm" !":pac::D

Great interview with Tom,a truly chequered career.Very fast out of the traps as a young lad, largely frozen out by James Horan.

Recall well that first league match back against Kildare in Newbridge where he punctured his lung and couldn't fly back for six weeks.Such bad luck.

In the form of his life, huge commitment to the cause whilst over in Cardiff studying.

Lads... i am praying for rain...a lashing wet windy day

i think if its a dry day Dublin can really hit their stride and their slick quick passing game will be easier to execute.

the weather will be a huge factor .. i think the rain suits Mayo more...thoughts..

I don't know where this rainy day suits mayo has come from again
You would swear we are a poor footballing team
We didn't even have to look back too far
    Galway game
    Roscommon first game
    Kerry first game

Wet day does NOT suit us

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,930 ✭✭✭jr86

In all honesty I can't even remember the last time a game was blatantly influenced by rain

The scoreline kept down maybe, but generally the better team wins either way

I don't think they have. There have been chances to take Dublin, last year in the first game and 2013 as well. This year isn't one of them imo. We might get close, but Dublin will have enough, especially when you look at their bench.

Dublin are streets ahead of everyone else including Kerry and Tyrone and probably Mayo too. We could be looking at a long period of Dublin dominance where they win AIs easily enough.

Do you really believe a team managed by Jim Gavin will listen to hype ?

Completely agree with you. This Mayo team are at their best when they play football. It's their natural game. Dragging the game into some sort of slugfest and hoping the weather is crap to assist you is completely negating Mayos strong points.

As a Dubs fan I hope we get a dry, sunny day and see the best two teams in the country go at each other in a real game of pacy football where the concentration is on getting scores rather than nullifying each other in a defensive blockade.

....................and may the best team win
