I personally think Eamonn Ryan should stick to the ladies football. He provided nothing to the team last year imo.

He might be a small bit better than Sheehan the Kerry reject who Peadar parachuted in at the behest of Conor McCarthy, who then brung Coakley into the panel and team to keep him company in his lovely free car on the lonesome road down from Dublin.
Eamon won't cost a lot and sure he'll only be 76 in three years time when Cork are struggling to get out of Division 3. He might even bring in one or two of the ladies to help out. That Valerie one recently retired was a handy corner forward and well able to mix it too.:D:D

What are the Barrs football team like this year? Got a tip to bet on them for the county a few weeks ago, haven't managed to get to any matches though..

They didn't look great against Ballincollig earlier in the year but they're fairly handy around the middle. Don't think they'll win it mind but they should get past Bishopstown the next day alright, who's in front of them after that potentially?

I thought Coakley did fairly well for Cork in the league this year, Impressed me more than Peter Kelleher for the most part and hit 2-4 in one league match I believe? I was glad to see Cork actually experiment and give fellas a lash to see if they're up to the standard rather than bringing in fellas with experience but no legs anymore.

They have a few back from injury since the first round and now they can concenrrate 100% on football with their hurlers being out

    Senior Football Championship
    Round 4
    Clyda Rovers v UCC
    Nemo Rangers v Kiskeam
    Valley Rovers v Avondhu
    Ballincollig v Carrigaline
    Bishopstown/St Finbarr's v CIT
    Duhallow a bye
    Carbery Rangers a bye
    Castlehaven a bye

Wouldn't be too difficult to be better than Kelliher. Could you tell us what league game Coakley scored 2-4. I saw him a couple of times and he was taken off at half time on both occasions. Scored a few tap over frees from the left side but other than that MIA. Kelliher too slow probably but didn't get much chance either from a disastrous brains trust.

He scored something like that in a McGrath cup game against Tipp's second team, which is probably what is being referred to.

Coakley did well in the Fermanagh game I thought, can't remember if he was taken off?

I dont think Coakley is the reason we're not in an AI final in fairness lads. We have bigger problems, with bigger players not showing up.

Hopefully a good weekend in store for Cork with the ladies v Mayo at 4.45 on tg4 and the minors tomorrow, again on tg4 from 12.45, 2 wins please.
I probably watch more tg4 at the weekend than any other channel, although Netflix has something to do with that though!

Cork 4 Mayo 2 after 15min. Very scrappy, most scores from frees. Martina O'Brien after making 2 good saves already

Serious display from Cora Staunton as usual, 1-6 of Mayos 1-7.

    Cork 0-8 Mayo 1-7 HT

The Cork ladies goalkeeper is having a very bad day to put it mildly. I would have taken her off at half time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 649 ✭✭✭DuffleBag

For all the days out they've given us jeez there were some very bad decision making by some of them. Orlagh Farmer going for a point with 40 secs left and 2 points in it and blazing it wide. Jesus like. The penalty was very poor as well. Cora Staunton is pure class. Single handedly dragged them into a final.

Staunton the difference but we left that behind us. Really bad decision making throughout the game. When we had the extra player we certainly did not utilize it properly. When that Mayo sub came on, shes is a known flyer, we should have picked her up with an equally fast marker. We didnt and she ran at us and set up a goal and was fouled a few times as well.
2 fantastic goal chances when we got beyond the goalkeeper....drove one high over the bar, drove the other high and it hit the post, 2 low shots would have been 2 goals. Bad day at the office from a goalkeeping perspective also, not strong enough at all. And to top it off Scally with the pen, taken off, back on, poorly hit, no real power and I think it was actually going wide.

All in all, very disappointing. But this is a team in transition from the glory teams of the past 10 years and they did themselves proud to get this far I think. They will learn from the defeat. It really could have gone either way and they will there or thereabouts again next season.
It would be nice for Staunton to win in the final but I would fancy Dublin.

very hard replace once in a generation players but with our continued underage success we wont be too far away the next few years

Best of luck to the minors today, would be great to add the last u18 to the first u17 win.

16 years since we last won the minor, that's just way too long. I think we have 2 fowards that can win a game and the better midfield, let's just hope that's enough.

hopefully Sheehan and Turnbull are fully fit, big risk playing them if not 100%

    15 gone 2-03 v 0-04

There are plenty of goals there for us as our fowards are well on top.

Great start. Full forward line is lethal.

Going well but only 3 up. Downey yet to touch the ball?

Downey suits the Galway backs who are big and physical.

Missed a good few chances as well. Need to regroup at half time and push on again.

Ht and we are up by 3

We are playing quite well. Fowards well on top but Downey at ff touched the ball for the first time in injury time, ne needs to get into the game as he did tbe very same in tne semi. Bad couple of wides for us but very happy so far.

Yeah galway are after settling well after conceding that early goal and credit to them - they have taken good points under pressure.

Our backs are being destroyed physically under the high ball while our forwards are not winning the 50/50 balls as easily.
