What amp fuse to be fitted in fused switch for Myson Power Extra zone valve?

    Hi,

We moved into our current house a few years back and in the hot press are two disconnected (the heads have been taken off) Myson Power Extra zone valves. One is for upstairs, the other for downstairs. As we haven't been using the upstairs rooms until now, we've just turned off the rads up there and heated the house without the need for zones etc.

Anyway, we're looking to get Bord Gais to fit the Hive system and I figured I had better check to see if the zone valves even work, for the purposes of the install. Turning on the switches did nothing, so I check and sure enough the fuses had been removed (no idea why). Can anyone tell me what fuse I should fit in the switches to check if the zone valves even work?

On a related note, if they aren't working, does anyone know if Bord Gais can replace those zone valves when they are fitting the Hive, or do we have to bring in a separate plumber?

    Cheers

If wired correctly, the timeclock turnes on the motorized valves and they in turn, turn on the boiler. All been protected by the one fuze switch.

So it doesn't sound like your system is even wired correctly.

Yes Bord Gáis do change motorised valves, but as Tom said, if you valves are on a bank of separately fused switches, Hive may not control them (Hive is designed to replace your time-clock, so it you cannot independently time and turn on/off zones from your time clock, Hive may not be able to do it either) I am sure the install engineer will check this for you and give you guidance if not compatible.

Unfortunately a huge amount of so called 'zoned' installations in this country are not wired correctly (using traditional S-Plan wiring) and are 'be-spoke' wiring systems, that do not utilise the axially switches in the motorised valves to turn on and off the heat source,
