Taken to UHG 112 now back in Athlone

The hotel staff here say it sometimes happens several times in a week - understandable given the nature of the N59.

Why is there need to set up a new thread on this. You have another one started on the 15th of june last. And tbh i dont see the fasination of posting photos the same helicopters over and over . Fair enough if galway had some nice variety of different helicopters in and outbut i think people will eventually get board of AW276 ,R118 etc on approach

Thanks for that Pat they do look the same just different logos :D, forgot that I posted it before but its nice to acknowledge the great work that the Rescue helicopters and the HSE do on these tasking's. If anyone here gets any pictures from Galway send them in and they will be posted.

Ithink we can allow a little leeway here. Last thread was in June. I saw the thread appear this morning, considered whether it qualified as 'selling/advertising' under boards.ie regs, decided it was fine and left it. I thought to myself the thread might get no replies and fade away but it might also get a few more people interested in the comings and goings of the rescue services.
I didn't think it would evolve into early morning nitpicking.
I see Oscar Bravo's point but I also don't see very much wrong with Storm 10 posting it up.
I'm going to leave it here for a bit then merge it with Irish SAR discussion, as it's more Galway SAR helicopters than general rotary aviation.

Thanks Tenger just want to show people out there who don't realise the wonderful life saving work that goes on everyday at our Hospitals in the Helicopter Rescue service and they never make the news unless something happens.

To be honest, I reckon A&A forum readers probably have a better idea than the general public, but at the same time I have no complaints with a refresher for anyone interested who might have missed it.

It was cancelled from the Australian Register on 15 June and registered in the UK on the same date as G-CKII. https://publicapps.caa.co.uk/modalapplication.aspx?catid=1&pagetype=65&appid=1&mode=detailnosummary&fullregmark=CKII

Anyone hear about a long range Rescue by Rescue 118 with Rescue 115 flying top cover, 500km out to sea contact was lost with them by Shannon and a Qatar Aircraft done some relays for them.

    Update from Malin Head Coastguard

RCC Malin Co-ordinated a long Range Medevac from a Spanish Fishing for a seriously ill crew man during the night. Great job by the Crew of R118 and R115.

Rescue 118 has successfully recovered a seriously injured crewman from a fishing trawler 500km off the coast from Blacksod. Great coordinating work by Malin head Coast Guard station, from Vincent Seeeney at Blacksod lighthouse for refuelling and our colleagues on board our Shannon based helicopter for being our guardian angels above us while we recovered our casualty.

No Casa again for top cover, its a long way to send two Rescue helicopters, well done to them

    From FB
    Irish Coast Guard

Last night Rescue 118 and Rescue 115 completed a long range rescue mission to a seriously injured crewman aboard a fishing vessel 235 miles off the Mayo coast. Both aircraft made a poignant refueling stop at Blacksod lighthouse before proceeding out to sea with Rescue 115 providing top cover for Rescue 118. Both aircraft and crews are home safely.

The Irish Coast Guard Ballyglass unit met the Aircraft at Blacksod for the refueling stop.

This image only shows the range of AIS coverage and not the complete distance of the mission.

what’s the reg of SAR 117 out of Waterford? EI-IC ??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 238 ✭✭shanemul

Seems to be EI- ICS at the moment

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,338 ✭✭✭EchoIndia

EI-ICS has been based at Waterford for most of its time with the ICG. It was a replacement for the crashed EI-ICR and I think has some differences from the other CHC S-92s in Ireland.
