Shall I try to be a Charted Accountant Ireland?

Hi, can I ask someone to advise below:

1. I have a master's degree in business. Would that help exempt the first 6 subjects, in CAI exam(charted accountant ireland)?

2. I've already worked 5 years in a company as an accountant before.Would these years experience be counted, for being qualified? I mean, once i pass all the exams, i will be qualified as CAI (chartered accountant ireland) immediately, or do I have to gain more years of work experience?

I can only speak from the training contract route, I don't know much about the flexible route.

Your masters will more than likely get you exemptions however I doubt you would get exemptions from all 5 Cap 1s. You can apply for exemptions here.

Yes, prior experience can be counted however I believe only 18 months before the commencement of the training contract. You need to be under the supervision of a Chartered Accountant who can manage your training and can sign off on your experience. With a masters degree I believe you only need 3 years experience, as opposed to 3.5 years with a level 8.

As far as I'm aware, masters will only exempt you from CAP 2s not CAP 1s and only if it's an accounting masters.

Your CAP 1 exemptions would depend on your bachelor's degree subject and grades. I've never heard of someone getting CAP 1 exemptions from a masters but check it out with the institute.
